Akili Smith and Andre Ware say "Hello".

(As does Tim Couch).

As does the No. 2 pick in the 2012 draft...Robert Griffin III.

Most fans say Dallas should get a QB at 4 because it seems like the best shot at a franchise guy. Then turn their nose up at a No. 2 pick who made a Pro Bowl his first season because he is a bust pick in the top 5.

My mind is spinning with this stuff.

If no teams are interested then 3 years, slightly over vet min, with big incentives. Low risk signing.

That's what Joe Fan would think. Hey, that's pretty cheap. It's low risk.

But when that signing could convince our GM to bypass a potential franchise QB in the draft it becomes a very high risk signing. A franchise killing signing, in fact.

I don't know why people over think it. It's real clear to me. We need a QB to replace Romo in 1, 2, 3 or 4 years. Anytime you need a franchise QB it trumps any and all other needs on the roster. By a lot. We have the 4th pick in the draft in a year where 3 QBs could be projected in the top half of the 1st round. Unless the scouting department decides all three of these QBs are frauds, which isn't very likely, then they must do whatever they have to do to get their franchise QB this year. If one is there, get him. Don't let the Cleveland Browns, for crying out loud, stop you.

I don't want to hear about DEs, DTs, WRs, CBs. They're all run of the mill. They can be had any year. This is about maximizing that draft pick by avoiding have not years between Romo and the next QB. That should be the entire focus of this offseason. Priority numero friggin uno.

How a complete bum like Griffin would factor into that is beyond me.

I agree with this. Most players from the draft don't come right in and help a team anyways. Dallas is more than a few players away. Might as well get the future franchise QB if there is one there they like. Dallas keeps saying they're in win now mode but theyre never players in FA which says the opposite.

Don't let your mind spin, my friend. It's called evaluations. Your #2 pick bum was a bum when he entered the league. I said that then. I'll say it now. He's a bum.

That said, you have scouts for a reason. They are the most informed voices in the room. Especially when Jerry and Stephen are in that room. You pay them to evaluate the talent and project these prospects potential of a pro career. If that feedback comes back that there is a franchise QB on that board I don't know how you don't move mountains to obtain that player.

That is because Griffin is a dismal failure outside of Shanahan developing a dumbed down simplistic offense for him to function in.

A #2 pick that sent the Skins franchise back 3-5 years and is in the same catagory as Mike Vick and Vince Young....uncoachable, coach killers and never understood how to read defenses....other than that...hey its winner winner chicken dinner....

But I guess Jason Garrett knows how to coach up QBs better that Mike Shanahan and Jay Gruden combined.....oh wait then there is this little thing about being BENCHED for the entire year.......Look out TONY ROMO.....RGme is on the way......

The new Triplets.....Jerry, Jason and RGme

Cowboys should have drafted Derek Carr in 2014 then, he was available in the SECOND round. Carr is better than any of the QBs available in this draft, that' how dismal the QB talent is at the top of the first round. Just not sold on the caliber of QBs in the first round of this draft.

There is no slam dunk once in a generation QB talent like Andrew Luck, Cam Newton or wait for it, even a Robert Griffin III, in this draft.

Anyone that thinks that the Qb's in this draft are better than RG3 than give your heads a shake. Remember Thanksgiving Washington at Dallas and how he torched us. He would be a very good pick up if we get him.

I'm in the camp that says take the QB at #4 IF you trust the evaluation that he will be Troy Aikman or Peyton Manning or at least Tony Romo. However, don't just grab one just because you're at #4. If the evaluators think this draft is similar to the draft with Eli Manning, Rivers and Big Ben then OK. But...if it is the Christian Ponder draft then pass.

I also am not opposed to bringing Griffin in as a backup that may still have an upside to hedge your bets. If the QB at 4 is the kind who can be a franchise guy...take him too.

BTW...when I posted my comment I hadn't even gotten to your post yet. Once I read yours it looked like I was passive aggressively referring to you. LOL!!! That wasn't the case Risen. Just for the record...

LOL

That was three years ago. In a system tailor-made for him. Pre-injury.

Only a complete imbecile would think that has any relation to him now or what he could be in Dallas.

I really do not mind if he goes to Dallas... Or Irving, Grapevine, Denton he is welcomed at all locations I just don't want him on the Cowboys.

Disagree overall, but thought this was funny.

Imthe more I think about it, the more I'm like... "Why not?". He'd likely be an okay backup and he may still have some upside.

I WOULD be against him being THE plan for the future, though.

Drafting a QB high in the draft should be a priority no matter who they sign. There's nothing wrong with an insurance policy of signing a free agent quarterback, but that should have no impact at all on the draft.

I'm sure I'm in the minority on this but I'm totally down with signing RG3 as the backup and not taking a QB in the first round. Gotta get a guy who can contribute right away like a defensive back, d-lineman, or skill position guy. We need to be going all out to win a title during these last 2-3 years we have Romo.

Putting labels on qbs on who they should/must be like is not good. Hope our scouts dont' use this logic.

We aren't close to winning a title even with a healthy Romo. Draft or no draft.
