It may be that having a little over a year to heal and 'get right' will be the ticket for this kid. I was expecting a RB when he was selected, but if he can be a quality swing tackle, much less replace Free, then I'll be thrilled.

BTW how's Nzecocha (sp?) recovering from his injuries?

How the hell does a team draft TWO injured guys AND a big character risk in the same draft?

Drafting injured players in the high rounds just doesn't make sense. It has yet to pay off for us .. in 20 years.

The twenty year line in the sand just doesn't cross apply to all injury situations. Time on the field and in off season programs is where player improvements come from.

Injuries happen to all players...and sometimes is related to speed of play - experience levels that are established, not just projected.

Where do you think Jerry Jones the gambler got his reputation from? He is always taking poor odds for big payoffs.

Bruce Carter is the only one I can recall. I can't really think of any injured draftees that have turned out to be steals for other teams either. It seems like IF they actually make it in the league, they are average at best. I'm sure there have been a few, but nowhere near enough to warrant risking more than a comp 6th or 7th for one.

Keep hearing this but I can't recall the last time one of these redshirts came back the next year and fulfilled their draft cost.

Kelvin Garmon was probably the closest one, and only because he was a seventh round draft pick.

How cool is it going to be to have Leary & Free as back ups..... That's depth right there

I wouldn't be surprised if we chose to draft another RT in the draft at some point to compete with Green for an eventual spot or a backup post. The staff might have a clue by now if his health is likely to allow him to have a promising chance to stick around or not. If they have serious doubts to the contrary, I'd think an additional commitment to replacing Free would be forthcoming.

Not much of a payoff here, though. I don't think anyone considers Green a can't miss prospect, sans the injury. There aren't a lot of great right tackles in the league and they generally don't make a huge impact.

I do feel like we have a reaching problem on our draft picks.

They think since they reached for Frederick and hit that it's ok to do it with anyone they feel like.

Look for Green to get consideration at Center. Coming out of college, many teams thought he could play all five OL positions.

That was the consensus. 5th-6th rounder.

The media guys are good at slotting first round talent. They don't do enough film study to slot players after that. If you saw consensus, it likely reflects guys copying each other's homework

Yeah. Like when everyone said Frederick was a massive reach. You might have claimed consensus on that one as well too.

That was one they were wrong on but I saluted the pick. However, Mel Kiper isn't copying from Ourlads who aren't copying from Scouts Inc. who don't copy from NFLDraftScouts who don't share information with Draft Insiders Digest and so on. That was a baseless comment to simply support the team.

You may not agree with their evaluations, though I suspect you'll simply rubber stamp the team's decisions rather than any honest evaluations of players, but to suggest these people don't really know the players after the first round and simply copy off each other because of it is laughable.

Fact - Amongst the various draft resources, Chaz Green was viewed as a 5th-6th round value. Sometimes they're wrong and the Cowboys are right. Most times they're right and the Cowboys are wrong.

When they all continually change their rankings they are copying from someone.
