Cowboys wanted to draft a RB in 2015

Oh well that's even worse than. You don't trade for the 1st overall pick. You do that we will set our team back 2 or 3 years. You would trade possibly two 1st rounders and a 2nd or 3rd round pick for a player who won't even start for us until 3 or 4 years down the road? That would be suicide.

That was just the question (how much moving up would cost), I know Goff is the more likely target for QB @ 4 in the, "Take a QB in the 1st fans" like me.

I think they would have taken a RB in Round 2 last year if Gregory would not have fallen.

See i'm against that. I mean so you believe that Goff is a franchise quarterback? Do you have the confidence in giving this organization to him?

I like Goff as a franchise @ QB to take over when needed. The organization seems to want to hide their head in the sand regarding Romo (4-5) years? SJ hinted he would be open to QB @ 4, JJ not so much. Yes, I would feel comfortable with Goff taking over when Romo is done.

It couldn't have been a 1st rounder though. Unless they planned on trading up. Everyone knew Gordon and Gurley would be off the board before we picked. Gurley went a little earlier than I think anyone thought but those were the two best backs in the draft and they were gone before we picked.

I remember some mocks showing them slip to us, especially Gordon. I'm not saying it was likely but I thought there could be a 20 percent chance Gordon slipped according to mocks I seen.

But maybe it was a good thing because he was far from impressive his rookie year but you never know if he was with us.

I hate that we passed on a couple quality backs in the third the most. Hopefully Chaz Green becomes a starter and makes me forget though.

If Henry slips to the second, you absolutely take him. He brings that punishing style and was wearing defenses down for Bama. Behind this O-line I believe he could do something similar. We don't need a guy that is dancing all over the field. We need a guy that is almost going forward and rarely loses yards. The ONE year we got out of 8 and 8 land was when we made the running game the central focus of our offense, so I definitely don't try to get cute at that position and find some 'hidden gem' late in the draft.

I don't know.......... there seems to be a pretty well established gap in the scouting world between Wentz/Goff and then Cook/Prescott/Hackenberg types.

Well there was one beteween Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder, Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert as well. Or Johnny Football and Teddy Bridgewater. Or Johnny Football and Derek Carr. They said Teddy Bridgewater's knees were too small lol.

Just as you don't have to use a 1st round pick on defense. All rookies can learn from Marinelli.

This is true. But at least that 1st round pick on defense will be a starter for us as opposed to sitting for 4 years.

What is so special about Henry? I don't see it.

Lol, because 2,200 yard backs breaking a record by Hershal Walker from the 80's, in the best conference in college football aren't special!

My dream draft would be to take an impact player for the defense in the first round and Derrick Henry in the second.
