Here we go again, good ol' Jerruh and his emphasis on Texas ties. Neither of these guys are worth taking up the role of backup QB......

Colt McCoy might not be the cat's meow but he's easily a serious upgrade over the two former backup QBs we hired.

My favorite choice would be Drew Stanton but his asking price might very likely be somewhat excessive.

I'm sure the FO is wrestling with the prospects of getting the most bang for their limited budget.

Uh, that article says they are likely to pursue Daniel's or McCoy, it says nothing about Dallas NOT drafting a QB, too. One scenario doesn't preclude the other. In fact, the smears thing to do would be BOTH. A rookie draft choice would not be ready to see the field this fall, so it would be ideal to sign a vet regardless.

Why waste cap space on signing those bums, when the QB we draft will already be better than both of them.

And yes, i do believe goff or wentz will be better than both of them even as a rookie.

I think JJ don't know what he want to do.

Stephen and Will McClay do though and they will get some cheap guys to fill all the holes. The draft
is where you build your team to help Romo get to the playoffs. I would take McCoy or Chase Daniel
over Moore at this point. He just too small and his noodle arm can't deliver the pass without too many ints.

That will really offer an upgrade and they can waste a draft pick while doing it.

Jerry said it at the combine... Only focusing on Romo's window not the next 10 years. Best bet is they will get some kind of
experienced backup for Romo probably McCoy or Chase Daniel. If you're gambling on Goff or Wentz, better to flush your money
having fun in Vegas.

You're going to be amongst the many so disappointed and mad on draft day. Jerry is going to help Romo not focus on the
team 10 years from now. Romo is the franchise QB now and Jerry says we don't need a new one for 3-5 years. Nobody
here listens much.

Goff or Wentz probably will but Dallas may not draft either of them.

And Stephen has said the opposite. Why would Jerry say we will draft a QB at 4, when a team like SF may jump ahead of us and take who we want?

Although the Cowboys have been linked to Griffin and Manziel in national reports, Dallas is more likely to pursue Texas prep products Colt McCoy or Chase Daniel in free agency as a veteran backup for Tony Romo.

Someone has been reading my posts. Chase and Colt are the best two vet affordable FA's.

Won a state title with Southlake Carroll then went on to be really good for Missou.
Spread system guy and never more than pro back up but he's been considered a plus back up.

I work with alot of Mizzou alums. They love this kid. Can spin it with the best and is a real leader. backup with upside

The last thing we need to do is draft a solid QB who can step in when Tony goes down, and then be ready to start next year when Romo retires. Let's just go the reject route for a back-up cause it worked so well last year.

A week before this Jerry Quote he said if a franchise QB is available at 4, we will take him. Jerry is blowing smoke ..

I could live with McCoy on a one year deal and then Wentz/Goff in the draft.

I mean, I guess... I don't know if I have an opinion either way. I'm not sure how many quarterbacks they have to run out there before someone gets that it's not the backup quarterback that is the problem. But I guess the answer is at least "4"...

Jerry is going to help Romo not focus on the team 10 years from now.

This is the same shortsighted mindset Jerry used to bring us Joey Galloway at the cost of not one but two 1st round picks. It was all in the name of trying to get Troy Aikman and that team to one more Super Bowl.....it didn't work out that well. Apparently Jerry hasn't learned his lesson about being shortsighted.

Romo is the franchise QB now and Jerry says we don't need a new one for 3-5 years. Nobody here listens much.

You are correct, Romo is the current franchise QB and the problem isn't that people don't listen. The problem is that Dallas Cowboys as an organization have been talking out both sides of their mouths when it comes to talk of drafting a QB. They are probably doing it on purpose so as to not tip their hand; strategery as GW would say. To buy anything any of them say as gospel at this point in time would be incredibly naïve. Also, just because Jerry says we don't need a new QB for 3-5 years doesn't make it so. If Jerry came out and said that we would come into contact with alien life in 3-5 years, would you believe him?

Anything can happen before those 5 years are up. Romo could decide to hang them up in 2 or 3 years for a variety of reasons such as health, wanting to spend more time with his family, etc. The team could decide to release him in 2 or 3 years as a cap measure. The point is that nobody really knows how much longer Romo will play, NOBODY. Romo is at the age where, physically, his body just cant hold up as well as it used to. I mean, he has been taking Weds off from practice for how many years now? That was done in an effort to save his body from the rigors of NFL football. Was it logical? Yes. But, it was also a sign from mother nature that he is playing a young man's game and he isn't young anymore in football-years.

They have to plan for the future at QB, it is the most important position on the field bar none. If they don't believe that any of the QBs in this draft is worth the #4 overall pick, fine don't take one. But if one, or both, of them are graded as potential franchise QBs and they don't find a way to take one, then shame on them and they will deserve every ounce of scorn that will be heaped upon them.
