If JPP has no market beyond a 1-year "prove it" deal (albeit one that could pay him significantly if he hits certain milestones), can Hardy have much more of a market? If not, I would be in favor of a 1-year "prove it" deal for Hardy that would allow for franchise tag if he blows up and behaves himself. I think it would be a great way to no lock ourselves into Bosa at #4, and maybe on the cheap.

I didn't want Hardy back but honestly, given the pass rush market, if he's willing to take another one year deal like he had last year, I'd be for it.

They need to sign hardy

Exactly. We are not going to be left with better options, talent wise. Unless we want to go to $15M for Olivier Vernon.

No need for another HeadCase on this team. Time to let Hardy mosey down the road and let the
Raiders deal with him.

Counting on RGregory is scary.

We could Hardy for less than 8m per right now.

GHardy can play WDE or DT when RGregory returns.

Sorry, but don't want him on any year deal. The more I hear the more I understand that he was not a guy people liked playing with and that causes issues. Drew Pearson was on last night and said he had players directly tell him that they didn't like playing with him. It's funny how we pieced together a playoff team that was a couple of steps from the SB in 2014 and now after having him on a the dumpsterfire 2015 team, people act like we HAVE to have him. I'll take my chances elsewhere.

The market is showing itself to be as crazy and overpriced as many of us thought.

JPP's deal is worth $10.5 million for one year. $10.5 million following a one-sack year following his incident!

And the word is that Mario Williams' asking price is $10 million per season as well.

Re-signing Hardy looks better by the minute.

If the Cowboys make no effort to sign him, then you know all the rumors about some coaches and players not liking him is probably true. Hardy is exactly the kind of guy the front office covets now - depressed value, with upside, where they can get him under contract cheaper and hope he flourishes.

So if the Cowboys make no effort, it's the largest neon sign ever flashing what a problem Hardy was.

For those who are saying 'sign hardy for cheap', have you heard the reports of the stuff going on with him in the locker room?

Bringing him back would be an indication of much bigger issues

I'd be okay with bringing back Hardy on a 1-year deal because it would give us a year to evaluate Randy Gregory to see if he can be relied on to be our WDE for the future, and the only real DE in the draft that could step up and be a better prospect than Gregory was (Spence) possibly has more baggage than Gregory. We can use Hardy as insurance in case Gregory doesn't pan out and draft the best WDE next year.

Do people forget that we just signed him to a one year prove it type deal last year and it is no secret that he and the team had different views on what it is to be a valued member in the locker room.

Am I dreaming that he in no way produced for the trouble he was causing?

You likely won't get that choice with Gregory, who has already failed four drug tests in nine months. One more, and he's out the entire season. My money is that he gets caught yet again.

Most likely. We do have a few options. Just not sure how great they are: 1) Draft a SDE like Bosa and move Lawrence over to WDE, 2) take a risk on drafting Spence, 3) spend big money on a veteran free agent, or 4) get Hardy on a 1-year deal and see if we need to address the position in next year's draft.
