.... and the meltdown has already begun. Most fans seem to want instant gratification ala Madden. They don't seem to remember Vanderjagt, TO, Marco Rivera, Bryant Westbrook, Ryan Young, Carr, Eddie George, Randal Cunningham, Joey Galloway, Ryan Leaf and Tony Banks to name a few. Smart teams don't spend heavily in free agency. If your very lucky you might get a short term gain like the Broncos did with Ware and Peyton but look at them now. The vast majority of time it handicaps you for years to come. So just sit back, observe the meltdown and the haters who will reply negatively to this thread and enjoy.

Not trying to blow your smugness out of the water, but the bolded players listed, they were not high profile free agent signings after day one.

In fact, one very significant acquisition, Galloway, was a direct result of our owner being impulsive and wanting to "win now" via trade.

You aren't even bright enough to realize most of these signings were actually dumpster diving like we are doing now

Lately I seem to be thinking more about Aqib Talib, Louis Vasquez, Emmanuel Sanders, TJ Ward, Owen Daniels, Demarcus Ware, Peyton Manning, and that Super Bowl Trophy they won.

Peyton signed in February before FA.
Talib signed 4 days after FA began.
Vazquez 5 days
Sanders 9 days
TJ Ward 5 days
Daniels 4 days
Ware 5 days

Not one of them were signed on the first day of free agency.

Rarely does anyone who spends big on day one of free agency end up getting their moneys worth. They end up overpaying for a player who never lives up to their contract.

Didn't say anything about when they signed, but just that they were signed during Free Agency

It is the first day of FA nonetheless.

I thought I had heard that. His original post stated that "smart teams don't spend heavily in free agency," but the Broncos showed that to not be true. Made 2 of the last 3 super bowls, and won one this year.

Said it before I could, just got here. Im not freaking out, but is it asking much to invest in 1 good FA for a need with the money we have? No, its not. Jerry even recently said he never expects to have more money than we do right now year to year so its time to invest in at least 1....takes some of the heat off yourself, its felt like we've had to NAIL every pick to have a legitimate shot at being a contender for sometime now and how has that turned out for us? You cant strike gold 5 times every year much less depend on it.
