I wanted to post his highlight video but some knucklehead had to dub it with vulgar lyrics and half the plays were against DAL.

Nevertheless Google Thornton highlights and there are a couple good videos.

Nice pick-up, fills a long standing need. 6'4" 310 lbs 1T.

I posted two video breakdowns on the Eagles site earlier that should show up on a search. They are pretty good. He will help take away that middle run we were susceptible to.

Both rotation and run defense got a little bit better...

His hands can apparently still improve too. One thing Marinelli and Lett have been good at is teaching guys to use their hands. Coleman actually took to the teaching before he melted down. Both Crawford's have improved dramatically. Irvin and Gregory are coming along. Bishop used technique even if he was T-rex. DLaw is turning into a monster.

He's only 27 and for a big man that is very much prime. He is a good value for $4.5m AAV.

Sean Lee wishes he could hit the like button more than once.

Also Thursday, the Cowboys reworked the deal of defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford, opening up nearly $4.4 million in cap space.

The Cowboys turned $5.5 million of Crawford's scheduled $6.75 million base salary into a signing bonus, dropping his cap number from $8.75 million to $4.36 million in 2016. It adds $1.1 million in proration to the deal through 2020.

The Cowboys signed Crawford to a five-year, $45 million extension last September and structured it in a way for this to happen.

This has to mean something but have no idea what. They didn't need the cap space.

Glad to see most of us are pleased with the signing of Thornton.

He should help to provide the needed run support and depth.

It will also relieve pressure on the LBs to stuff the RBs.

We're certain to need some big $$ in the not-too-distant future to re-sign those three pro bowl offensive linemen we have.

Be glad to see Stephen is taking care of business in advance. It won't come cheaply. We should all be thankful later on.

This is exactly the type of thing that this organization should have been attending to all along. No more cap calamities.

If Cedric Thornton wasn't the starter he wouldn't have been signed for 18 mil.

If a player is designated as a startar by his contract then what incentive does any rookie or free agent or low round pick have to compete?

If a contract determines who is the starter then that player has everything, why bother trying? He has the money and the starting position before training camp even begins.

Yes, you could assume that he will win the starting spot but what if we get a diamond in the draft that shocks the world, it could and has happened.

Jason Garrett has said the key to this team is competition. It makes everyone better. I wouldnt automatically crown Thornton as the starter.

He's the starter just like Romo or any other starter is, and if someone outplays them then they aren't the starter anymore.

Why are you even arguing this? He was brought in to be the starting DT opposite Crawford. You sound like you're just being contrarian. Yes a lot of things can happen between now and the season or in season. That doesn't change the fact that as of this signing, he is the projected starting 1T by the TEAM.

So you agree there's nobody currently on the roster that can beat him out and we'd have to SHOCK THE WORLD in the draft to find one..... but he's not a stater.

No, I got that he is the PROJECTED starter. We would all assume that he is.

However, Jason Garrett is not going to say, "This guy is our starter" before training camp. He has to earn it. I'm pretty darn sure he will.

However, competition brings out the best in players. Every player needs to be pushed, no player should feel secure in his starting position. Coaches will tell you that fear can be a very powerful driving force.

Do you all understand that if a contract determines that a player is automatically the starter then it is the GM, and not the coach, who determines the starting lineup?
