The last few days he has been mentioning over and over how they might be looking QB at 34. Presumably Cook or Hackenburg. Nearly every time he's been asked about that pick lately he's brought up QB. Some people may dismiss it, some may not. I just thought it was worth mentioning and letting people make their own conclusion.

I caught that too. Also, doesn't think they would take Spence if he fell to 34.

They need to find a starting QB - old, aging, injury-prone current starter with no younger viable starter as a backup -- yea I say it's about time to draft one.

Mr. Romo will get hurt this season and/or his play will suffer because of injury (see Carolina game last year).
No problem with drafting one in the 2nd round or even trading up late in the 1st.

The QB they draft will see playing time this year -- maybe get a decent evaluation of him & hope you do not have to draft one in 2017.

If that's the case then that's why this franchise has been mediocre the last two decades. There are no QB besides Lynch worth that high 2nd and we have proven that we cannot develop QBs. At top 2nd there will be a lot of talent. Picking a QB is a throw away pick...very sad.

Ugh.

Deep down though, I think I knew the front office would do it this way. Don't attempt at a QB in the first but then waste a 2nd rounder on a guy with limited ceiling and try to trick the fanbase into thinking they just secured the next decade of Cowboys football.

What a wasted pick. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one at 34, it would be Hackenberg over Cook. But frankly, both suck.

More times than not, they always throw away their 2nd round pick...why would this year be any different. :(

At least we saw some talent with those TEs they picked. But these QBs really are awful....awful and everyone can see it too.

No no no no no no no no no no

NOOOOOOOOOO

If this team isn't going to take one of the top qbs..which clearly they aren't

Then don't waste a second rounder when we have much bigger needs...

This team is clueless...they're straddling the fence...win now or build for later...they're doing neither

He also hinted about Lynch and Buckner at #4 earlier in the month and that doesn't look like what's happening. I'd hold off on the pitch forks just yet.

I have said all along I wouldn't be surprised if they took Lynch at 4.

That 34 pick is in the absolute wheel-house of this draft. So many really good prospects potentially there.
Have to say I'd be pretty disappointed if they used it on one of those QBs.

He's in the know so I don't dismiss what he says.

I hate the idea of either of those QB's. They aren't going to make anyone around them better. Especially in a system that hangs the QB out to dry.

We missed on Wentz. Just move on and build for now. Don't reach for a QB because you waited too long.

The one scenario he talked about moving up was if a player (QB) got down far enough they could trade their 2nd round pick and their 4th round pick and be able to move up into the first. Those two picks would equal 656 on the trade chart.

Again that is moving the 2nd and 4th picks and keep in mind that they have another 4th round pick at the end of the fourth as a comp pick.

Moving the 2nd and 3rd pick would equal 815

So you have 656 with 2nd and 4 picks and 815 with the 2nd and 3rd picks

Here is the values of pick 20 on in the first round

20 850
21 800
22 780
23 760
24 740
25 720
26 700
27 680
28 660
29 640
30 620
31 600

I think Lynch might be the only one they would consider trading into the first round and i don't know if he gets that low.

As far as staying at 34 and taking one.

I would hazard to guess that Cook and Hack are the ones slated for that area (and taking into account that I think Lynch is gone in the first)...UNLESS...UNLESS they are afraid to wait to the 3rd or 4th rounds and missing out on the other level of QBs so they just do it now and take someone at 34 other than Cook and Hack (Dak maybe).

Personally...I think if they are not going to take a QB in the first round (whether at 4, whether trading down in the first or trading back up into the first) for Lynch...I say just wait till the 3rd or 4th and if that third level of QBs are gone I think they might just pull what they did with the RBs last year and not see a QB worth bringing in after a number of the ones they like are gone. After a certain point it might just be a wasted pick to bring in QBs that might be left.

What QB have we drafted that we couldn't develope? The problem hasn't ability to develope a QB, but not taking a QB to develope. We don't know if they can develope a QB because you just can't turn a Yugo into a Benz
That said since we didn't get a top prospect I agree throwing a pick at a QB is a mistake. Fix a much of your roster as you can and wait on the QB. I was all in for one of the top 2 but I would touch any QB past lynch till after the 4th rnd and if I took a QB late it would be Allen

You can't develop a quarterback. Quarterbacks are or they are not.
