The argument with Romo is how many of those 4 qtr comebacks were his fault? He has made a fair amount of bad plays to cough up the ball only to recover and make the game winning play too. Completely different game as well with Staubach....the passing rules were so in favor of the defense back then that his numbers really can't be compared to Romo's.

Different Eras

Staubach and Aikman were top 3 QBs in there era. Romo is top 7-10 in this era.

Aikman had a solid 5 years before becoming total utter trash when the team around him also declined. Different era? You're dang right. Romo never had and never will have the team around him that Aikman did, and he was still quite mediocre for half of his career.

Staubach and Romo are very similar. Aikman is a much different guy. Stats are meaningless because of eras and different styles of teams.

Remember, Staubach was in the Navy, so he was a 27 year-old rookie.

I would rank the Cowboys quarterbacks like this:

1. Roger Staubach
2. Tony Romo
3. Don Meredith
4. Troy Aikman
5. Danny White

Troy>>>>Romo

Troy couldve put up gaudy stats if he was asked to.He also was better in big games.

One championship for Romo changes his narrative among Cowboys fans and league wide. He may surpass both HOF QB's with one title. No different than how most would say Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees are better than Staubach and Aikman. A ring changes everything for Romo. Hope he is able to land one within the next three years.

You can make this argument about any QB if you go by their raw statistics

Compare it to Tom Brady's 4th quarter comebacks

QBs make mistakes, but I can't think of many games where Romo has put us in those positions. I can remember our defense countless times doing it though.

Except he never did. What happened is, he went to **** when the team around him declined.

Whether he did or didnt is irrelevant. He was capable of putting up great stats. Look at his playoff numbers the years they won. That was against the best teams in the league at the time. To sit here and pretend like he couldnt put those numbers up during the season is mind boggling.

Actually, it's very relevant. I am basing my opinion off of what he did in his career, you are basing it off of what you think he MIGHT have done if he went elsewhere or was asked to do more.

Different era and yet the exact same game. Era matters when you talk about hair styles pants fit. Nothing has changed about how you throw a football.

Without even thinking there was the 5 interception game against Buffalo. I think another one against the Rams in the last 2-3 years.

So where was it in the late 90s? I was waiting.

Romo excelled with little around him. Troy excelled with EVERYTHING around him, but failed when he had to carry the team later.

The Rams game it was a miscommunication with him and Dez. Dez was supposed to run a curl route, but Dez ran up field while Jenkins did the curl for him. The only other one on that list I can point out is the Vikings game in 2013, he threw an INT late in the 4th but we got the ball back and he drove it down the field for a Harris TD.
