Pretty much every year we pick someone up after final cuts. There has been a rumour that we are trying to trade the next 2 years 3rd rounders for Mike Glennon. I think it's smoke but it goes to show that there's a lot of thought that we're looking for another backup QB. One with experience.

Picking up a QB after the final cuts proved to be anything but a worthwhile endeavor last year.

Stephen recently stated it won't happen again. We'll soon see if he meant what he said.

You got a point. They don't get a full offseason to learn the system properly.

I'm good with either Foles or McCown. Both have won games in this league.

Sounds good to me. I'd rather have McCown personally but I'd take Foles. I like Moore, but I doubt we'll get more out of him.

Hopefully Dak ends up being a diamond in the rough, I like him also with this offense and I think he learned his lesson in College and has matured rather quickly.

Please just do this so the Mike Glennon nonsense can stop. Not a fan of either guy but Glennon looks to be way more expensive in terms of what we'd have to give up in a trade than Foles.

I am pretty sure that the Rams have already had to pay the bonus and no matter what that stays on their cap. They would get to remove his salary and his pro rata signing bonus for this year and next from their cap. His 2017 salary is not guaranteed so the best thing for him is probably to let that play out and become a free agent. If you are trading for him, it's probably one and done.

I rather have McCown as well. Foles is better than he looked in St. Louis and maybe that 1 season in Philly was an aberration but he did put that work in that season. Give him an offseason, an o-line and some weapons and I'm more than certain we can ride with him 1-4 games and at least break even.

Dak has a lot of skill, I hear he is picking things up fast, but I'm not there to see it so I can't say yes or no. Not his fault,he's a rookie and has not played an NFL game. Preseason I could care less but it will be decent experience for him. Kellen Moore is a professional play, he is limited and like you said there probably is not more that we have seen that will come to fruition.

They don't have easy jobs but who does anymore? They get to live a dream, work their butts off and make a decent buck for the bruises. Tony Romo does not grow off of trees and that's why when he's done he has easily over a quarter billion put away.

That is true , but they have chose to go into the season without a proven backup QB and if they don't try to upgrade , they are screwed. It looks like they are ready to tank the season if Romo goes down. The way the offense is built, it is too dependent on Romo, so they may feel like it is a waste of resources to sign a QB right before the season.

Few years ago the FO made statements that made it clear that the team goes as Romo does. They're right and it's probably the reason they stopped investing greatly in a backup QB. I guess if there's no young guy waiting in the wings like Romo, could take over and just come out with unexpected talent, we're not going to win a championship anyways if Romo goes down. But what about those 1-4 games that he could come back from? That if we go .500 and he can come back to get us into the playoffs and go for the run? That's my issue.

LOL.

I swear some of you have never actually watched Foles play and just see his 2013 season on a stat sheet and think he can play.

Blimey! We shall see how big your LOL is when the fragile and aged Romo is on the ground, grimacing, mate. By that time, however, you will be anticipating the next great thing like our rookie QB or the storied Kellen Moore with a 71 QB rating.

Yes, we shall all laugh heartily then, right, LOLing bloke?

(By the way: I trust you have seen plenty of Moore, correct. If so, you need a life. If not, then you might try to get in some film watching.)

No offense, but this is a pretty stupid post.

For one, I was one advocating that we should take a QB like Wentz or Goff in the first round if we could because of precisely the Romo problem you talk about in your first sentence. My fear is Romo gets hurts again and we don't have a replacement on the roster for the next decade. So trying to paint me as someone blind to the realities surrounding Romo was whiff #1.

Two, I don't think Moore is all that good himself. I think the front office botched the backup QB situation this offseason. I think they thought they could lowball a contract to the few guys they liked and when they were all overpaid, they started the PR campaign that Moore was the guy they liked as backup all along. Moore is not the answer for the future. So trying to paint me as some big believer in Moore is whiff #2.

Three, while Moore might be a sad QB, Foles is no better. That's the point. Foles had one off the charts season that was largely due to the fact that Kelly's offense took the NFL by storm and no one knew how to defend it. Once teams figured it out, note how Foles looked awful. Then he got traded to St. Louis and lost his starting job to Keenum (who also looked much better than Foles when he played by the way). And there's whiff #3.

There is no chance in hell Nick Foles will "thrive" here, mate. Blimey.

So, you are an absolutist, bloke!
Yes, I would say a pretty stupid post. But all of us here still value you and love you. So turn that frown upside down into a smile!
Foles, Moore . . . yes, I agree the front office botched it up. But saying Foles will never thrive here is saying Moore will, or worse, that we are totally screwed in the backup QB position.

No, saying Foles will not thrive here is the same as saying Moore will. That's a pretty bizarre reading of a post, frankly.

They both kinda stink. I don't need to bring in another bum to complete with the bum we already have.

Yes, I think if Romo gets hurt, our season is over.

Right-o. I see creeping sanity into your posts. Be a good lad now, and continue your analysis of how wrong you were in the first place.

Well, mate, have fun with it. Too bad you can't tolerate a humble bloke's opinion. But I, a good neighbour, plow on with my substandard opinions, don't I? All the while you cackle with the certainty of a genius.
