I guarantee if Mickey was badly injured or had died, it would have been front page.

Well, yeah. I'm sure Mickey will come out with a story about it eventually. It's a crazy thing to be a part of. I do imagine when deaths and any NFL team are involved the league gets in the middle of PR and liability topics pretty quickly.

Several people suggested the language in the article was changed at some point. When I got to it, it was already pretty tame.

The original article was fairly short and the second half of it jumped right into Jerry having to compensate the estate of the victims. It had the feeling of guilt being placed on the driver of the Cowboys' bus even though no facts were known at the time.
 
Here's extending my sincerest condolences to the survivors of the family involved in those unfortunate deaths. May they rest in peace.
 
Just horrible news. Feeling terrible for those families.

Zoners on here saying negligence this and liability that........since when has this small detail prevented an attorney from bringing a lawsuit against someone with deep pockets?. And Jerry does have very deep pockets, mind you.....and people DIED. It is mostly a PR thing now for the Dallas Cowboys.

My thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. Sadly, we seem to be getting immune to tragic events occurring in this world.

Cowboys Issue Statement Regarding Fatal Tour Bus Accident in Arizona

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones issued a statement on Monday regarding the tragic accident involving the Cowboys tour bus that collided with a van Sunday in Arizona, resulting in four deaths.

“An accident involving loss of life is tragic,” Jones said in a statement. “We as an organization are deeply saddened, and our thoughts, prayers and concerns at this time are with the family members and loved ones of all who were lost.”

The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued an official statement on Monday:

On July 24, 2016, at about 1:39 p.m. a Dodge van, with a driver and three passengers, was traveling southbound on State Route 93 near the intersection of Pierce Ferry Road, milepost 41. A motor coach was traveling northbound on State Route 93. The van turned left across the traffic lanes to access Pierce Ferry Road. The van and motor coach collided in the intersection causing both vehicles to run off the road. Three females and one male in the van died at the scene from their injuries. The occupants of the motor coach were uninjured in the collision.




The bus, which left Dallas on Thursday in part of a road-trip tour that stopped at various places with the final destination scheduled to be Oxnard, Calif. for training camp, had four Cowboys staffers on the bus, consisting of driver Emory Tyler, media personality Mickey Spagnola and TV & Video assistants Jacob Walraven and Foster Naylor.

Spagnola, Walraven and Naylor were transported by another bus to Oxnard, where they arrived on Monday. Tyler, who has been the Cowboys’ primary driver for more than a decade, flew back to Dallas.

The Cowboys depart for training camp on Thursday and the official opening ceremonies occur Saturday in Oxnard.

IMO really lame of PFT to not show the article had been edited. Definitely trying to quash the original tone of the article.

Also the whole illegal turn is irrelevant, if they had turn right result would have been similar, they would have been hit more in the rear or at a angle
so not quite as bad.
The only thing is did bus have lights on? was it dark or near dawn? how fast was the bus going?
Why did the driver of the van not see a big white bus?? or think he would not be hit by it.

Seems to me the car pulled out and was immediately hit in the side, and was carried way down the road or knocked way down.
In the first link in op post, look at the pictures, and videos of the van, and then see if you think 55,mph would do that
It might, since vans are weak vehicles, but this looks like a high speed impact.

I think the main fault would be with the driver of the van, pulling out and not seeing a bus is bad, and then trying to go left which at that point
was actually straight ahead, was all on him
But if the bus was doing 90 and not paying attention, then some fault would be with the driver of bus.

No brakes hit means the bus driver did not see that the van was pulling out, and again they must have been either going really fast
or the van just pulled out right into them.

I drive truck and cars and such see us big vehicles but don't care and think they can beat it. You have no idea how many times I have saved a life by paying attention and anticipating what a car will do to avoid killing them.....sad part is they don't even know how close they came.

People think buses and big trucks are slow when in fact that's not true. They also think we can stop like them.....try stopping a 60,000-80,000 lbs truck running 65-70

I hear you, but in this case it seems like the van driver did not see the bus, and the bus driver did not see what the van was doing.
Also I think that is a dangerous situation there.probably not the first wreck there.

I have traveled that road many times.......very beautiful goes right past Hoover Dam......it's very open and can see from great distances. I don't know every detail but from what I have seen sometimes folks just don't respect big vehicles. It's very sad this tragedy happen but if everyone would just take their time these things can be cut way down.
 
Tragic.

Long sections of straight highway can cause one to lose depth perception and really not get a gauge for speed. Through in many other variables like the heat plume off the asphalt even at night can cause a lot of miscalcualtions.

I commute to work by bicycle. All vehicles are big, scary, and want to kill me is how I look at things.

Thoughts and prayers to the family of the deceased, as well as those on board the bus.

You missed the entire point......that being said stay safe on the roads while commuting
