Nick Eatman: Earlier in the day on our podcast “The Break,” we talked extensively about Alfred Morris and how he needs to be on the field even whenEzekiel Elliott returns. But after the show, I sorta joked, “is Darren McFaddenstill on the team?” Obviously, he is, but we just don’t hear much about him right now and it seems like he’s getting passed by on a daily basis. After Monday’s practice, I saw McFadden walking off the field and asked him when he might be returning to action. “Maybe a couple of weeks,” he said. “I’m ready to get out there.” I would think he is more than ready now, considering how he’s dropping now the depth chart without even playing.

I like him and think he offers more than Jackson or Dunbar, but if he can't get on the field before season, does he have a chance to make the team? Time waits for no one.

I vet trying to get out of camp.....

It really sends the wrong message to everyone else....

He won't be out there until the docs clear him to practice. Until then, his grip on the 53 gets looser every day.

His situation is weird to me. He sucked as a backup. As a starter, the team had to abandon half their running game for him. But man can dude go when they get it blocked.

Ya I don't get why people want McFadden over Dunbar or Jackson. Dude is over priced and we have cheaper and younger guys that can do what he does or even better

He's overpriced at 2 million? He had a better year than Morris last season, I'd want him starting if Zeke went down.

McFadden was the featured back and Morris wasn't. Morris is more talented then McFadden. Not only that but McFadden can't even practice because he is injuried.....he can be gone. I'm rolling with Zeke, Morris and Jackson

Morris began the year as a starter and lost out, averaged less than four a carry. Mcfadden didn't begin as a starter and did more. He was better last year.

Because McFadden was the featured back with the best OL in the league. Morris is a 1600 plus back when featured. Not only that McFadden scored 3 TDs.....that's it. Yards mean nothing, points is how you win

Ya one of the bigger knocks on McFadden was his shortcomings on 3rd and 1 and goaline runs. He just doesn't break tackles very well, and runs a little too upright to succeed at that. Morris is much better in that regard, and he can be an every down back for our offense if Elliot goes down. My hope is that Dallas can trade McFadden to the Colts for a 5th or 6th round pick, as they are desperate for a backup runningback. They are rolling with Turbin who played for Dallas last year.

Not sure if we could get a 5th but would do it for 6th or 7th

No team should give up a 5th for him with only 1 left in his contract, but this is the same team that gave up a first round pick for Trent Richardson. That, combined with their scary lack of running back depth puts them in a desperate situation.

Totally forgot the 1st rounder for Richardson haha

I'm very much on the fence when it comes to McFadden. I hope he did a lot of film study during his rehab, and I hope he strengthened his lower body while he couldn't do much with his upper body.

I think he would likely have more success somewhere else. A team with a good line that focused more on a man blocking scheme. I want us to be able to maintain the scheme we have had so much success with. I think we can do that with Elliott and I think we can do that with Morris. I think Jackson and Dunbar are good options for difference reasons for a third and maybe a fourth back.

lol, why'd we draft Zeke again?
I like Morris better than McFadden, but his 1600 yard rushing season was aided by a rookie RG3 season when the NFL didn't know how to defend their zone read plays. Elliot is a pre-injury version of Edgerrin James. Elliot is a guy who is going to get Dez, Williams, Witten, and Beasley more space and open looks. Morris and McFadden are not those kind of guys.
