Prepare for football idiocy in Dallas

The "football idiocy" started right here in this thread the minute someone suggested there might even be a hint of a controversy brewing. Talk about overreacting...

Dak has not sniffed the actual speed of he real NFL yet. We've seen great things,,but let's keep it in perspective. It's the second preseason game. Facing the Giants in week 1 would be a totally different experience for him.

I'm excited for his future, and I do think there's a chance we are seeing Romo's eventual successor. But he's going to need the next two seasons to get ready to claim his inheritance.

I'm happy when people do things like argue for Dak to play over Romo. It makes it much easier to identify the idiots and simply stop talking or listening.

for a Qb controversy to arise, that would mean Romo isnt playing well, unless we go 0-6 or something, Romo will be the QB no questions asked. but moving forward there is gonna come a time when Romo isnt Romo, and thats when it will get ugly.

Well it is PS but dak is playing as good as romo if not better.
But the key thing is Dak can run with the ball, he is a better than avg runner as qb's go.
If Dallas has the ball 3rd and goal at the 5, Romo has to throw it or hand it off, and Dak can easily run it in if no
one is open.
That sort of makes him a bigger threat than romo in certain situations.
I think they should consider giving Dak a few games during the season, just to see how he does, and give tony a rest.
eagles and browns games would give tony 3 weeks off.
I know they wont do that though.

That's insane, you don't sit your starting quarterback in the regular season to see what the backup does. If Romo regresses then I can see it, but he was pretty damn impressive himself in this game. I'm impressed with Dak as much as anyone, but Romo is so far ahead of Dak in understanding the offense, reading coverages and blitzes, and those traits don't show as much in the preseason when most teams are using a vanilla scheme. I'm just happy it looks like Dallas has a backup who can win games in case Romo goes down, and Dallas just might have lucked out into a seamless transition from Romo to the next franchise QB.

Stop looking at the negative. This is good. FINALLY Romo has someone pushing him. The closest he's ever been pushed was Kitna, and that was only b/c Kitna knew how to click with his teammates.

The guy played with cracked ribs and punctured lungs and other painful injuries. He's the last guy I would worry about needing a push to be motivated.

Romo has a new challenge.

Prescott looks like he very well could be the future of the team here. I'm thrilled that Dallas may have knocked this draft out of the park.

However........

Prepare for idiocy. We are cursed with one of the dumbest fanbases in the universe, AND THE MEDIA IS ALREADY DOING EVERYTHING IT CAN TO DRUM UP A QUARTERBACK CONTROVERSY. They want unrest in Dallas. NFL Network is slobbering over Dak every 10 minutes.

Romo has to shut it out and play. Every time he throws an interception, shoot, every time he throws an incomplete, the calls for Prescott will rain down on him.

Again, we suffer from the most toothless and tattooed imbeciles of any fans not located in Philadelphia. I'd estimate it at 40 percent of us. Those that hate the Cowboys (including they media) will egg it on.

Romo has to shut it out. The whole organization does. Dak is not ready yet. Let that happen naturally.

If Romo can come out hot right away, that could quell the madness, but of he doesn't, he's got to put the earmuffs on. Or else.

It's a WONDERFUL problem to have, but it's an issue if they allow our to be.

Ugggh sorry you haven't met Raiders & Niners fans... Pretty Stupid fanbase .. Superbowl every year!

Im so not looking forward to this.

Romo deserves respect he's earned that. This is Romo's team period. The kid is lucky to learn from Romo.
Respect should never dictate playing time. Talent and consistency should, lad.

Honestly, and it surprises me to say this because I know the full depth of the Romo haters here, but I don't think we'll see that. First of all, there's no indication that Romo is going to be anything other than great, and he would have had a basically perfect night himself if not for sailing one. The entire first half basically looked like the poster for "anyone can throw/run behind this line" with the numbers the QBs and RBs put up.
2nd, at the end of the day Dak still is just an extremely green 4th round pick and I really can't see a situation where anyone would think he could come in and handle it better than Tony... assuming health of course.
Sorry to report I've already heard someone say , I just hope when Romo starts stinking it up like he always does Jones will put Dak in.

Miserable much?

Amazing that one could somehow twist another great performance by a rookie QB into a crisis.

So far I've only heard one person bring up a QB contravercy this season and it's the OP.

Pre- emptive whining how cute.

If Romo performs, all will be well, if he doesn't, it's time for change. Every great franchise QB reaches this point. Deal.

I'm just thrilled we hopefully have a viable option pushing him. You see, I love the team more than the player.

NFLN was just having fun with Dak's great games. One guy when talking with Todd Archer jokingly said...what happens when tony throws an INT, when will they start screaming for Dak.
But it was in a light hearted talk because Dak looks so good.

There is no, nor will be a QB controversy unless that comes from the Romo haters. Which shows their own low QB IQ on them hating him in the first place.
Now in 3 years, if Romo shows he is losing his skills, then it may become one.

Of course. And why Jerry has never really wanted the heir apparent on the roster .

It's NOT Romo friendly!!!

Typical Damage Control out in front .

Let's go ahead and call any fan an idiot who sees or might want a more talented QB spark the team like we did in 2006 if our aging, less mobile QB is struggling .

Shocking. It's like I've often claimed. As long as Romo is on the roster these fans don't want to win without him.

I'm certainly glad they are our more intelligent fanbase knowing what provides our Cowboys the best opportunity to win. Very sad!!!

Romo was asked after game if there was any concern Dak was coming on too strong too soon. His response: "No. We want him to be good."

And I'd call Cowboy fans Ive known for up to 50 years some of the more intelligent serious fans in the NFL.

We aren't for the most part slobbering paint our faces hanging from the rafters intoxicated cheer for anything fans.

As Aikman defined,Dallas Is a winners city. We want to win. That's where our loyalty is not to any particular owner, coach or player.
