Marijuana tourist Zeke

He was already tested for the year, apparently it takes place before August 9. He has done nothing to get into the program, so they can't test him again until at least next April, when the window for testing opens again. Walking into a store and not buying anything (TMZ asked, everyone said he didn't) is not going to get him into the program.

Actually, you don't know that. The Cowboys don't even know that. It's confidential the first time a player gets a positive test, and they are only issued a warning and placed in the program. Again, confidentially.

The Cowboys weren't aware that Gregory had tested positive again until his 4th failed test.

So you're saying he's in the program? Because if he's not, he's not getting put into it for walking into a store and walking out without buying anything. Confidential or not, they can't randomly test guys - it's not in the collective bargaining agreement. They can test between April and the middle of August, then they only test guys in the program.

What is your point?

Who cares? Why do you care so much?

I'm saying I don't know if he's in the program. You don't. The Cowboys don't. Only he and the league know.

Walking into a pot store is not a smart thing to do if you're a pro athlete with a party history in college and abuse investigations ongoing.

But it doesn't ensure that he'll get tested soon, which is what I was responding to.

These optics are really bad. He needs to be more self aware. If you want to go to a dispensary, that's fine. Just don't get seen or let people take pictures. Now he's made himself a headline. Which could have been his intention.

I'll say it every time anything like this comes up: It's absolutely ridiculous NFL players cannot smoke weed.

This is like going to strip clubs for the married guys.......you can look but don't touch.......Darren Woodson was just on calling him an idiot right after saying he went into the pot shops in Amsterdam.....the fake outrage on this one is off the charts, especially for Drunk Jerry

NFL needs to stop acting like cannibis is HGH or steroids

I don't think that's the point.
Most here agree that marijuana use in general is non-issue. However, as long as it's a banned by the NFL and players are putting themselves and their team's in jeopardy of suspension, they gotta stay away from it. At the very least visiting a head shop is a bad look.

The NFL only cares about weed because there is money involved with the pharmaceutical industry. The pharmaceutical industry and beer industry are the reason weed isn't legalized. Sales have been down in states that have legalized marijuana the NFL hands out pain pills like crazy which leads to more health concerns. The NFL is more worried about money than players and that's the problem.

You should criticize the league every time something like this instead of the players. The reason why the drug war even started was to arrest and control black people and hippies a Nixon aide came out a few months ago and admitted it. The NFL is only participating in a system that is racially motivated.

How about not drinking AND not smoking weed? These sorts of vices are for the mentally weak. Don't give the government more money than you already have to from your income taxes.

This is what worries me the most. He's already on the NFL's radar for the DV allegations against him. Now he just popped up on the NFL radar for drug issues. With Goodell you're guilty until proven innocent. I just assume no Cowboy player would be on Goodell's radar and now Elliott has 2 reasons for Goodell to keep an eye on him.

If this was the days of Paul Taglibue(sp) I wouldn't be as worried, it looks bad, but who cares if he didn't buy anything or have a dirty drug drop. But in this day and age with Goodell and the way he deals with things is a problem.

I hope Jerry sits down with him and has a long talk like he used to have with Dez. In fact I hope Dez sits down with him and has a long, louder talk with him.

I personally don't drink at all and have never smoked anything.
However, it's not for me to judge how other people deal with stress in their lives. Or what they do in their down time for pleasure. It sounds bad to say people that drink or smoke are mentally weak. Even the term mentally weak just smells bad.
I've never lived anyone's life but my own and they have not lived my life. So passing judgement on others can be said to show a lack of empathy for others and this could be said to be a mental weakness itself.

I can think of many good reasons to not smoke or drink. The government and taxes are pretty far down on that list.

Just as long as he's only window shopping.
Exactly. He will be scrutinized but the silliness stops there. It's legal in the state of Washington. For someone still living in one of our backwards traditional states that refuse to embrace it as normal, touring a Mary Jane store in a legal fashion is the equivalent of taking an 8 hour drive to spend 3 days at Disnelyand. It's cool...

I'll say it now just for GP. By 2020, Mary Jane will be legal nationally and it will be taxed no different than tobacco when sold legally.
