you only reach injury settlements with guys that actually injured....Tony's fracture will heal in 6-10 weeks.....it is not a career ending injury by any means....they won't owe him any more money after this year but will have huge cap hits whether he retires, stays or get cut

I was answering the question as it pertained to this year. Retire, cut, or stay....he's getting the base salary this year.

As for his injury being career-ending, I'm not sure how you can say it couldn't be considered as such. Because it will heal? Not sure that makes a bit of difference because nearly all injuries do heal eventually. Aikman's injuries are probably healed by now. So what do you call an injury that heals but also precludes the player from being able to effectively play his position? That's not career-ending?

I mean, dumb it down enough and all you would really have would be paralysis and death.

I dont think this will ruin Dak. But yes there have been guys that werent ready and it very well could have ruined them. David Carr was afraid of his shadow before he was done lol.

David Carr was playing behind the worst OL in football back then. He was sacked about 70 times that year.

Call me crazy but I think the Cowboys' OL will perform far better than that.

Are we blaming Free for this? It is entirely on Romo.
actually it is Elliott's fault for doing his job and picking up the blitz....that guy would have creamed Romo from the front and not the back......but Elliott flipped him and Romo escaped for the moment

/sarcasm off

Was told all offseason how great he felt. Best his back ever felt and whatnot. Yet since game 1 of 2015 he's played in 6 games and suffered 3 major injuries.

Was also told how stupid it would have been to draft a QB at 4 because we have Romo, who will play 3-5 more years. The collarbone was just a fluke and he'd only missed a couple of games in all these previous seasons due to his "bad back". Yet here we sit with him down for half a season again before the 1st game is even started. Maybe they lucked out with Dak, but that is still very much tbd.

That's why I don't see him retiring at all. We owe him big time money. At least next couple years he will likely be our starter. If not, he's a well paid veteran backup.
They only owe him for 2016 which is 8.5M salary.

Dead-money is not owed to him.

In 2017 they free up 5.1M in cap space without him on the team.

2017 cap hit:
Romo on the team - 24.7M
Romo cut - 19.6M

Doesn't mean anything in regards to Romo himself. He's on the roster this year and the dead money is less than his scheduled cap charge after this year so there's nothing to prevent the team from cutting him.

Does suck because the team will have less available space to use to build around Dak, but this is the consequence of restructuring his contract a half-dozen times or so.

I wonder if the Jones boys ever considered this scenario behind closed doors. Maybe this is why they have been so unwilling to go out and get a free agent DE or really spend much at all on FAs. I would think we could eat this before Martins contract comes up. Thats my primary concern now.

After the NFL figures out DAK....Kellen is gonna come to rescue to save the season...Book it:D

I know that "Nooooo!" clip from the office gets over used, but I actually think the full clip makes sense more in this situation, then any other situation ever. Just substitute Toby for Kellen Moore and you have how every cowboys fan besides floaty feels.

This offense is built to run and impose its will on defenses. Romo. Dak. Either way.

We have nice possession type receivers. A very, very good OL, Zeke, Morris, etc. A running game is a QBs best friend. Especially to a rookie QB.

So just "Run the Damn Ball" and we should still be a very competitive team.

Go Cowboys!!!

Aikman went 1-15, didn't seem to stop him :D

Dak will go through some growing pains but he has the mentality to overcome a bad season(record wise).
