If he passes, a non story. How in the hell are this kid's texts going public? Is he careless or stupid?

I have read many comments by players over the years that say that only idiots get caught for pot in drug tests in the NFL. I believe I even remember them saying there was a safe point for players, date-wise, that once it passed, you would no longer be tested as long as you had never failed a drug test before and were not in the system already. Once a player fails a drug test, they get tested regularly the entire year.

Maybe that's why the team is hedging with a dozen running backs?
We didn't even need a RB.if Zeke turns into another Gregory then Garrett is going to get fired as it was his call to draft Zeke.

There is no way you get put on any kind of program for taking a picture in front of a pot shop and then texting about being nervous about passing a test. That would be ridiculous. This should a be a major wake up call that the guy needs to forget about smoking pot, however.

I agree. There's no evidence from those texts to suggest he took drugs or smoked marijuana. There's no evidence that just because he wanted to sweat it out in a sauna that he was trying to sweat drugs out of his system - if that's even possible, and I don't know if it is (someone with more knowledge in this area than I would have to shed light on this).

EE even going into a pot store isn't enough evidence. He may have just been curious.

However, as you said, it doesn't look good. I'm just hoping this doesn't become an issue with him on the field and with the team.

We weed, I mean, need him. ;)

Yes, only the careless or stupid players get caught. A whole lotta mo smoke weed and do not get caught in all professional sports. Poor soccer players get so bored they should let them smoke on the field. Blunts were created for NBA players because their hands are so large.

This article illuminated that you do not necessary have to fail a test to enter the program and become subject to randoms. The speculation is that Elliot's text messages coupled with the dispensary visit maybe enough to warrant his inclusion, though I disagree.

Hopefully the media won't make it an issue if it isn't one. If the texts are from the ex-girlfriend's phone, then the conversation took place way before the visit to the weed shop and the test must've already been taken. If he failed it, I'm guessing we would know by now.

Isn't there a period where players are allowed to do this stuff? I mean if people really believe that a lot of these players don't smoke you are fooling yourselves. These guys smoke and they smoke often.

There are a lot who do and a lot who don't.

How did these text get out

Seriously? What agent or player would make that public? If those are indeed actual text then I cant believe anyone would not find that concerning. Yeah its a problem if a guy is stressed about passing a drug test. Theres only one reason you worry right? Anyone calling this a non story is delusional. Pass or fail it shows us there is a strong chance he is smoking weed still. In that case its only a matter of time.

Do you know anything about athletes trying to make weight requirements?
I know that outside of fighters, there is no reason to dehydrate yourself to lower your weight, because it doesnt actually do anything other than hurt performance. A football player doesnt "make weight". They trim to get more mobile.

If he passes and took a blocker or something to dilute his urine to do so its a big story. All this does is indicate he hasnt put down the pipe. Meaning sooner or later he will get popped if he doesn't change his ways.
