Jerry on the Fan: They have turned down offers for Leary

I wouldn't let whatever the eagles do get me down. Remember last year when they were making all kinds of trades and moves that the "experts" were raving about? They were calling them geniuses and even picking them to go to the superbowl.

trust me, they're the least of my worries

Smart move. While fans want to trade him for defensive help right now, imagine if they traded him and then we lose an offensive lineman for the season in week 6. At that point, maybe one or two of our young guys on the DL has risen up and we also have Lawrence back on the defense. Most fans would be wishing we had kept Leary then.

This is also why we never make good trades. Leary is gonna be gone next year. We will have 3 other good lineman on the line. We should have a guard that can play and not just suck. I mean romo is already out and banged up.

We turn down offers for both McFadden and leary who will both be gone next year and probably not play at all this year. We need a real gm.

So you would take a 5th rnd pick for Leary now, rather than a comp pick the following year? I'd rather have the depth. If a team gets desperate and offers a 3 or 4 then we can talk. But anything below 4 and I think he's worth more as depth and take my chances on a comp pick the following year. As for dmac doubt very seriously much was offered for a player who is not even healthy enough to play. Again if a team has injuries and gets desperate then I look at a trade

I think GB put the kibosh on any trade talk for Leary.......they released starting All Pro OG Josh Sitton after trying to trade him.....the Bears scooped him up and signed him to a 3/21m deal...GB won't even get the comp pick they could have got if they kept him......Leary might get a 2/10m deal but he still has the knee issue

Keep Leary for depth. Tease only for 3rd rounder and conditional to 2nd., or a 2nd.
May a 3rd rounder, but for that he is better to keep as depth.

He is a FA next year, and may get a 4th round comp pick. So that 1 round difference for depth, he is better to keep.
2nd round, yes trade, 3rd, not so much. Heck someone may over pay and we get a 3rd round comp, but I wouldn't bet on it.

That may be the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.

I can't possibly say it's a good or bad move without knowing what the offers were.

Not only that but DMac actually has to pass a physical to be traded. All the woe is me over not trading Dmac is shrouded in misinformation.

If the price is right I'd trade him in a heartbeat

That's the rub, though. No one knows the price. I'm sure that if a reasonable offer was given, Jones would have taken it. But he's not going to be taken to the woodshed just for the sake of moving a guy. He was low balled on a few offers and he passed is the only logical assumption anyone can make, right now.

If someone offers a 3rd you HAVE to take it at this point, if for nothing but trade bait to move up in the next draft where pass rushers are aplenty.

GB cut their starting Pro Bowl OG Sitton because no one offered them anything....... we aren't getting anything of value for Leary

Which is why I prefer to just hang on to the guy. His depth is worth more than his trade value, IMHO.
