Ok, so the 'mighty' Vikings got crushed by the Eagles yesterday and the other 'powerhouse' team (Seattle) could only score 2 field goals given 5 quarters of play. Where does that leave the Cowboys? As the best team in the NFC if they can do the following two things:

1) Confirm that assessment by beating the Eagles this coming Sunday

2) Not doing anything stupid like putting Romo back in as quarterback

In my office pool before the season started, I picked a Cowboys/Patriots Super Bowl and so I'm having fun so far (while most of my colleagues had picked Carolina to represent the NFC...ha, ha, ha...)

You knew the Bradford train was going to derail at some point. In my mind Green Bay is still the favorite in that division.

I fully expect us to be rated #2 in most NFL Power Rankings that will come out soon. Will be good to see even though they won't actually mean anything in the long run.

Vikings are good but I've been saying on this forum for weeks their OL was bad. We saw that yesterday.

They are down 3 scores with 5 minutes left and they are still throwing 4 yard passes.

Its between dallas and minnesota at this point. One game doesnt change that minnesota has been the best team in the league so far this year.

Actually theres now better tape on how to beat them.

If Seattle get's healthy, I see them as the front-runner.
then
Dallas, Philly, Minny, Atlanta, Washington...
maybe if they get healthy, Green Bay or Arizona

I agree. I do. I know there's ten games left and you always have to hope nobody gets injured. But I say look at the rest of the NFC. I hate to tell that worthless hack McNabb that the Cowboys beating the Packers at Lambeau was still a big win. But the Cowboys are better than them at this point. The Falcons can score but their defense still sucks. The Eagles defense looks good but the Commanders ran for 200 yards on them. The Vikings aren't going to scare you on offense but that defense is legit. They will definitely keep them in games but I think the Cowboys are close to the most complete team in the Conference and that's without a consistent pass rush

I'm concerned our defense will eventually do us in like it always does. If you're going to win big games you need a pass rush especially in the 4th quarter when games are on the line. Against Green Bay, Rodgers had all day to throw most of the time but he was off, missing throws he normally makes. The defense has looked better than expected but would be nice if we could add a pass rusher via a trade.

With the way Green Bay, Seattle and Arizona have struggled, I don't see how anyone can say Dallas isn't the best in the NFC. I never viewed Minnesota as real threats at any point. They just don't have any playmakers on offense. I mean their defense is good but they don't have any true superstars like a Von Miller or a Richard Sherman. Carolina last year was a complete and utter fluke. I predicted they'd go 8-8 or 9-7 this year and they may not even be that good. So yeah Dallas should be the favorites in the NFC right now. Elite offense + formidable defense. All the other teams are only dominate on one side of the ball and pretty bad on the other.

Dallas is a bad matchup for Seattle. Their strength is very similar as what we faced when we played the Bengals, and we dominated them. I think Atlanta is the team we don't want to face, if we had to pick.

The way I see it, each team has a formula for winning and no team is super complete all the way around.

We'll know a little bit more about how sustainable our game plan is this weekend, but I feel like it is a bad matchup for the other NFC contenders.

It really doesn't matter who the best team is right now, the NFL season is a marathon and we haven't even reached the halfway point yet. It's who's in contention and playing the best when the playoffs start that matters. We're going to eventually hit some bumps, we did back in 2014 we just have to maintain our focus and get back on track when it happens. This season has started off amazingly similar to the 2014 season. Just like in 2014 we entered this season with expectations down. We started off with a loss in the opener and have won 5 straight since just like in 2014.

Our QB is playing great and we have the leading rusher in the league just like in 2014. The similarities between the two seasons are remarkable. The only real differences are we're getting it done without Romo and Dez which is something no one would have predicted. We've never been real good after bye weeks, we've had a tendency to come back a little flat but we can't afford that with Philly coming up. Sometimes a bye week can disrupt your momentum. Philly's defense ranks 5th and they have 20 sacks so we better be focused and ready to play next Sunday Night.
