...while most of my colleagues had picked Carolina to represent the NFC...ha, ha, ha...)

Be careful about laughing about Carolina.

If they were to make a trade for Staley or Thomas they could shore up that o-line as Oher will also return. Panthers aren't the same dominant team as last season but they could still make noise...make a run...and reach the playoffs.

We've seen it before...where a good team looks dead 1/3 of the way through season...and rises.

Its between dallas and minnesota at this point. One game doesnt change that minnesota has been the best team in the league so far this year.

I think the Cowboys stack up very well against the Vikings.

So in order for them to be a bad matchup for us, they can't lose a game? The NFL is all about matchups. I think their offense would be tough sledding for our over-performing defense.

I agree with this. Atlanta would be tough to keep up with.

Yeah, let's wait a bit before anointing us. We have a long way to go. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

We actually play better as the underdog. Once this crap gets into our heads, we'll be going through the motions again ... and getting our season tanked.

At this point I'd say 1st - 3rd best. Eagles and vikes might be better.

The Atlanta team that can run up the score and make us keep up. I don't want Dak in that kind of game his rookie year.

Atlanta is one playoff matchup that I would definitely feel better about with Romo at the helm.

New England is the other. I Love Love Love Dak, but Belicek against a rookie QB with Brady at QB......

Gotta get there first of course, but so do they.

I'd rather get there against New England with Dak, than watch it after failing to even make another NFC championship game with Romo

I just don't see it. I see Atlanta do this every year just to end up 6-10 and miss out on the playoffs.

What? This team hasn't let anyone run them up and they would be no exception. They may run up a score on a Romo led team but none using the clock and playing grind it out football.

Nobody has been able to stop Jones all season... I really don't think we would be the first.

But Dak's a proven loser, he proved that in college didn't he. Don't give me that flak about him being on inferior teams, everyone knows that a talented QB can make up for a teams struggles. Just look at what the defending MVP is doing in Carolina without a defense.

P.S. Being sarcastic, relax

You knew the Bradford train was going to derail at some point. In my mind Green Bay is still the favorite in that division.

Unless they find a running game and Rodgers returns to form they will remain the dark horse in the race.

If Seattle get's healthy, I see them as the front-runner.
then
Dallas, Philly, Minny, Atlanta, Washington...
maybe if they get healthy, Green Bay or Arizona

Its just my personal opinion/observation, but I don't think Seattle will be out toughest out. Their passing game isn't effective enough to cut us up in large chunks, and we run the ball better than they do. I just don't see Seattle being able to score enough points to beat us. They would probably be playing from behind, and that plays to our strength.

Minnesota is largely in that same category. See analysis for Seattle, supra.

Atlanta and Washington have good enough talent on offense to occasionally cause us trouble. It is teams like that that could cause us trouble on any given Sunday. I think Green Bay also fits into this category, but with no running game they are a rung below Washington and Atlanta in the dangerous foe category.

Arizona is like poison to us. They are a bad match up because they might actually slow down our running game, if we aren't creative with it. we probably won't be able to just impose our will on them unless we keep them off balance. Plus they can score points. The type of running back they have is close enough to Elliott caliber that our defense will give up some points in that game.

Agreed. I think I'd rank Philly ahead of us unless and until we beat them.

Philly is not as good as we are. Wentz could be exposed further in his game with us. That defense is for real though. We might have to win that game by passing the ball. I hope our staff is prepared for that eventuality. If they sell out to stop the run, I sort of doubt we will be consistently effective running the ball.
