He's simply not a dynamic kick/punt returner. He's extremely limited as a contributor on offense and doesn't play on coverage units on special teams (I'm pretty sure). We've got to get more out of the spot than what he's given.

In two years:
  • 25 career kick returns, but just two that went for 40+ yards (season long of just 33 yards this year).
  • 36 career punt returns with not a single return longer than 39 yards (just three 20+ yard returns).

They should let Dez return punts in the playoffs.

It seemed like he was getting it together as a returner lately. He wasn't terrible tonight and didn't get many chances because Beasley returned a couple and the Vikings punter is terrible.

Why does he get switched out with Beasley? Is it trust factor on punts that may land close tot he goal line?

Good question. If they don't trust him, why are they putting him back there at all.

Yeah. He's been struggling mightily this year. Miss me some Dwayne Harris but water under the bridge at this point. We need to find another option certainly by next season. He hasn't been able to take it to an acceptable level.

That's exactly what it is. Typically when we're backed up or in a critical spot they put Beasley in there to receive the punt and fair catch.

I can't stand Lucky, never did. For each good play he makes, he counters with 10 bad ones. His only offensive play is that stupid jet-sweep. To be fair, it occasionally works.

Bease isn't much better at returning either, we need a true threat back there. I don't like seeing Dunbar returning kick-offs either :(

Looks like they put Beasley in when a fair catch is anticipated, like Parcells used to do with Crayton before he actually let him return punts.

You need to post the stats for other returners if you want to make a point.

I wanted him replaced but backtracked after his preseason return. He's been ok but we should at least get some competition in here

I was surprised he made the roster his first year here. He was never a dynamic returner and it was obvious from day one...

I'd rather still have dewayne Harris.

I like following Lucky on snapchat, but he isn't contributing much on the field at all

Agree on all points. I think Lucky is just too skinny to ever protect the ball properly. That Viking returner guy is super fast but he's also a pretty big guy.

You want me to post the kick & punt return stats for every returner? Sorry, I gotta day job. Feel free to take on that task and report back.

He's changed his body quite a bit this season. I'm always a bit leery at the team making quick/fast players and adding bulk. He seems to have lost a bit of his giddyup.

The good news is he's a good blocker, he's cheap and I'd give him 1 more year to grow into the new body.

Lots of the same people here complained that we didn't re-sign Dwayne Harris who is getting paid nicely to be an okay special teams player in favor for re-signing Beasley who is #1 in WR DVOA this season.

I'll give Whitehead some more chances.

For each good play he makes he counters it with 10 bad ones? Really though?
