Gronk does this stuff all the time, and it's celebrated. No big deal as long as what they do isn't illegal and it doesn't affect their preparation, which so far there's no evidence to suggest it has in any tangible way.

I watched that whole "Oh wow, Gronk hangs out with porn stars n' strippers, isn't he just SO COOL?!" cycle and just shook my head. If that was a Cowboy....

I agree, it's all about perspective. I don't think there's any controversy in going to Cabo on your bye week during the regular season. All I'm saying is Romo opened himself up to scrutiny with the way 2006 ended and the particular timing of his Cabo trip.

If Patrick Crayton caught that wide open 20 yarder over the middle we probably would have beat the Giants, and the media would have no room to criticize Romo.

True, this is why I get a kick out of those who talk about what they did at that age and how it is normal. Well there is nothing normal about these players lives, this is what Calvin Hill has stressed over the years you are a public figure in a very bright lime light you have to be careful and use good judgement. People will place the athletes on a pedestal and praise them only to knock them off the very pedestal they put them on. Especially the media

Tuesday is their day off so they had some fun Monday night. Didn't they visit the hospital the next day? No big deal. I wonder what the Giants were doing Monday night.
Monday was the Hospital visits, Romo's pre-party, and then the annual Christmas party. Looks like they went out yesterday to what's basically a bar and grill. Today is about work.

No big deal.....sort of.

It was no big deal taking a trip to Cabo either.......until you don't play well or lose, and then you've put extra scrutiny on yourself for no reason.
Do they have the right as grown men? Yes, especially on off days.

But if you don't think they're going to hear about this from Jerry and Jason, you are kidding yourselves. They will also hear about it from the veterans, guys like Witten. The coaches and the vets know just how seldom years like this come along, just how rare the magic is even if you have the same guys next year. It's about more than the media scrutiny and questions that you and your teammates will now be asked a few times this week and a few dozen times if you lose on Sunday night, justified or not.

It's about putting yourself in a situation, location, time of night, etc. around too many unknowns where something bad can happen. One drunk doesn't like getting sprayed accidentally with champagne or doesn't like that the dancer he was fantasizing about is now working her tush to make money with you, and you get a bottle upside the head or have to defend yourself, resulting in an injury. Suppose that happened to Zeke and now Witten sees a season that may cap his career of frustration off. They are kids, not grown men, and they aren't thinking about the worst that can happen, but Jerry, Jason, and the veterans will find a way to let them know.

So will agents and prospective endorsement companies....it's not a huge deal, but it is all a part of the learning process.
I will be concerned if I hear about a similar event before this season is over.

Maybe the solution is for Jerry to build a grand night club with his own security staff in place so that players and guest can go out and party. Have limos outside waiting for them when they are ready to go home. I just know that it seems every time you turn around you see in the news of this player or that player out late at night clubs when an incident took place. Things is it does not have to be something instigated by the player himself just someone around him that creates trouble and it is the player who faces the consequences

To be fair, going to a local club and traveling to another country aren't exactly comparable.

Why, they actually had a large chunk of time off rather than 1 day where a hangover could be possible?

Another country - 2.5 hr flight.......

It would take them longer to drive to Corpus Christie Beach than fly to Cabo so another country has no bearing!

Let's not sweat the guys living their lives as normal red-blooded guys with reasonably good sense. They had some fun at a night spot and didn't get into any troubling activity. As long as they keep things within the bounds of good sense and stay out of trouble, it's all good. Of course if they end up on the wrong side of the law, we'll be sure to hear about it. That'll be when it's time to get concerned.

If it was the perfectly normal thing to do with no issues of image or danger, do you think they'd be the only two guys on video?
Where were the vets, even the young ones, partying? This is not something that will continue; they will be advised, and you won't see this again unless it's after the Super Bowl. It's no bigger issue than Zeke browsing a marijuana store out of curiosity, but he heard about it, and he'll hear about this. It's always good when the young guys learn without suffering any consequences.

Exactly...no big deal, but Witten also learned a lesson, and I'm sure he'd share it with a young guy today. There's just nothing positive that's going to come out of it.

Given the current playoff push for team, & the public spotlight of the team, different points can be presented:

1. Big deal for the specific players and the positions they play (especially, the QB) on the team.
2. No big deal.
3. "Rookies" need to unwind/celebrate.
4. Unnecessary outside public scrutiny can create excuses for present & future poor performances (in this current media sensational environment, why generate and put yourself in an unneeded/irrelevant environment?)

I will comprise -- party, but do it in a private setting and surround yourself with individuals who you trust.

too boring
