I think because if you have to bench Dak now, it hurts his confidence and the teams confidence in him. If you had done it when Romo was healthy and all was well, it would have not hurt Dak's confidence at all.

Am I the only one that thinks these players should derive their confidence from the play on the field and not a coaches decision on who to start?

It seems illogical to me that a player would go, "Oh, well the coaches put in the other guy, I'm not going to have much trust in him if he plays again."

He is not playing well now, thus would be the reason for the benching. thus the lack of confidence!

I would say this, if getting benched as a rookie hurts his confidence he is in the wrong profession IMO

I don't think that would be the case these guys know this is a business and he is a rookie. I don't think it will have a negative impact on him at all.

So then it isn't really the benching that hurts the confidence, it's the play. Then if he should be benched, bench him.

Yes,. Because as good as we've played, if we play a good balanced team in the playoffs we will not win. Luckily in today's parity filled NFL 80% of teams are not complete, they either lack offense or defense.

So yes we've done well during the season especially due to the fact we played a lot of saps at quarterback.
If we play the Packers the way Rodgers is chucking it now, I don't think we would have beaten them. Honestly I think we're a couple of defensive players and a receiver away from being a good playoff team.

I'd rather give Dak all the experience I can this year so next year he's ready to rock.

So maybe next year will only go 11 and 5 but will be a better team if that makes sense

you'd lose out just to give dak exp?

Ever since we've lost, not that I'm happy about it.
this site has hyper-driven/warp-sped beyond the mere entertainment boundaries of a RATIONAL THOUGHT PROCESS.

If they make the change I think it will be obvious they had to do it and there will be no problems in the locker room.

Sort of when they decided Tony was the backup, it was a tough choice but ultimately the logical one.

If we lose to the Bucs and we're behind at halftime to the Lions 21-3 or something like that with the #2 seed slipping away and looking at no playoff bye and having to go on the road, yes you put Tony in.

I don't understand all the aggravation over Jerry saying something obvious. I don't think it'll happen. I think we win the next 2 games with Dak and then the Eagles game is meaningless.

It would've been better to have Dak have these growing pains early in the season rather than late, but it is what it is.

For the 80,000th time, they were not playing on the same teams, therefore, this is an apple to oranges comparison. Romo's teams, for the most part, have been MUCH MUCH worse than the team Dak is on. Why can't you get that through your head? THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. *** is wrong with you Dak lovers? But if you want to play this game, look up Romo's QB rating during 2014, when he too had a great running game. Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick!
He once played with Owens. Dak would own with Owens.

November 26, 2015 - Romo throws three interceptions in the first half. October 1, 2012 - Romo throws FIVE interceptions against the Chicago Bears. Everybody has bad games is my point. No one knows what our record would be had Romo not gotten hurt.

Do I need to quote the statistics that put him among the all time greats, such as his passer rating, which he is currently third all time? Sure, they all have bad games, but Dak has had several games in a row where he hasn't looked great. It is a credit to him that in several of those games he put together a good drive or two late to secure the win, but by the same token you can't ignore the mediocre play.

Dak was benched in college. Being benched because he's a rookie and still has a lot to learn, experience to gain, accuracy to improve upon, and mechanics to fix, etc. due to a 10-year veteran top-5 QB is nothing to be ashamed of or lose confidence over. You also have to fear - as Bill Parcells used to say - losing the QB. It took Romo three seasons to start with a very conservative Parcells when it comes to the QB position as his coach. It took him a while to finally "see it" as he said to Parcells. Dak is still young and has plenty of time. But his play has regressed over the pass three games with accuracy issues and bad mechanics, two of them against tough defenses. It's not going to get any easier, because Tampa Bay has the number one pass defense. If his play doesn't improve it will be one and done (playoff football is less forgiving), There is no way you can ride a rookie through the playoffs if this happens when you have a vet like Romo on the bench. It would be unfair to the rest of the team.

Because they are very entertaining, and don't prescribe to group-think and sports clichés. I find that their ability to explore the psychology of sports issues and not just rehashed hot takes refreshing. I don't always agree with them, but they provide a different angle that isn't typically brought up by the majority.
I hate his political views that he often spews while using his SPORTS platform. Uncalled for. He's still a moron.

He made the most valid point of all.

If Romo was healthy, which is a big if, the Cowboys would be 11-2 or better.

That's not a valid point, that's an opinion. And a lot of people would say that's more of a guess than an opinion.

Given his QB rating the last time he played for an extended period, it's a heck of a lot better guess than what Dak's Pack would like you to believe -- that Romo is broken down and washed up. Now that's a guess. See how this works both ways?

The only difference is, Romo's advocates would like to see him play, so we can take the guesswork out. Dak's advocates? Not so much. What are you all afraid of?

Hard to take you seriously when you call me a Dak lover. In fact, I've been called a Dak hater by many here.

But other than that silliness, your post was awesome.

Oh, I was probably just using your post as a reference -- my reference to Dak lovers is for all of those out there who are too scared to see what Romo has and use erroneous "logic" as the basis for their argument.

Lebatard is the biggest clown in America

Hated him for 18 years

Hes a numbers guy all the way

In the early 00's he was asking journalists why does Irvin get more respect then Keyshawn when their numbers are the same.

He picked the Lions to win 10 games, the didn't win any that year

Tried to make the argument with basketball experts that Josh Smith was as good as Scottie Pippen(or Scottie was no better than Josh Smith)because they had similar career numbers. Smith would later become a bench player in Houston before washing out and now plays in Russia

He thinks coaches are worthless but went on and on about how great Steve Spurrier was going to be in Washington

Yearned for Gronkowski to shoot a porn scene

This is only the crap I remember. Will add more upon recall

I hate the man!!
This should get the most likes in this thread. If it doesn't that's a problem.
