#12 overall just one behind that defense the media loves to talk about in New York.

#1 against the run.

#4 in points scored against them.

Getting some guys back healthy...

The rest of the stats truly indicate this is an opportunistic bend don't break defense that works against anyone. They've been battle tested against the best and gotten better every single week. This all happening with arguably their best corner going down early in the season to injury and being without any proven firepower on that defensive line all season long.

Is there anyone that still doesn't believe this defense will be a major factor in the playoffs?

It's so amazing what you can do with a bunch of guys with heart that probably wouldn't be starting on most other teams.

Give Marinelli an award now. It's not debatable.

Don't sleep!

Atlanta's D isn't anything to write home about. In fact, they're weak against the run as well as the pass. We could probably put up 50 points on em'.

But I heard on first take that our defense will be our undoing. Atlanta and greenbay are to kill us.

It's interesting. Our offense is a bit behind Atlanta, but our defense is superior to theirs. And we're better than GB on both sides. Yet those teams are gonna undo us?

The Atlanta D is in the bottom 5 of the NFL iirc. A hot Rodgers is concerning but we can just keep him off the field.

I'm very encouraged but I'm not singing any praises until they can prove to get it done in these upcoming playoffs

We ARE the team to beat in the NFC. I know it was out of desperation, but I'm crossing my fingers that Rod stays with the "3-2" defense he hit Detroit up with. Even when we get more D-linemen back, it just puts so much pressure on a QB when there's 5-7 defenders standing at the LOS, & he doesn't know who is rushing & who is dropping. LOVE IT!! The Steelers & Ravens have won multiple SBs while utilizing it. I'm from NE Ohio, so I've seen firsthand how it can suffocate an offense--even when the Browns were decent- :(

Marinelli (imho) is having the second best coaching season amongst all coaches on our staff (second to Garrett). His groceries weren't as fresh as those on the other side of the ball.

It's still our weakness. For some reason, teams just quit running against us. We get a couple of stops on 1st down, and teams just stop trying. Maybe it's because they think our CB's are weak. Maybe they lack patience. A team like the Falcons and Patriots could run and run and run, and it could be trouble.

Perhaps they quit running against us because we make them pay when they do. Just something to ponder.

IMO we all better pray Sean Lee makes it through the rest of the season/playoffs healthy. Easily the defensive MVP. Not saying he is a one man wrecking crew but I do think he covers up a lot of blemishes, and without him things would unravel quickly.

Our defense is playing a lot better than expected lately, still overall through the course of the season they've been pretty mediocre.

I think the most impressive part lately is that although their season avg in QB rating against is almost 95, the last 3 games against Stafford/Winston/Manning they've only allowed a 64.8.

The defense is the newest surprise in a season full of them. Tank goes out and the line steps up? Incredible. Most sacks over the past month? Mayowa (the jag castoff) has as many sacks as Hardy lol
