Resign : TW, Wilcox, Claiborne.. I would try to resign Escobar but i bet you he goes to a team who uses the passcatching TE scheme. I can see Pats picking him up and his career taking off.

In FA i really dont see Dallas doing much, they have a core and are young. If they were to go FA i would hope it would only be Sheldon Richardson or Kawann Short.

After seeing him choke away that 49ers game a few years ago, I don't think I could justify that signing to myself.

I can't blame you, but unLucky Whitehead does that without any of the big play capabilities.

Haha. True. I'm taking my man Ryan Switzer in the draft. 7 punt return TD's. Two time All-American returner, 1027 yards this season, 3 150 yard games this year.

Known for his return skills, obviously, and his hands + route running. 5'10, so a little small, but he's a player.

Cheap help:
  • Logan Paulsen- blocking tight end around 750k
  • Jonathan Cyprien SS - if we don't keep church
  • Ricky Wagner OT - frees cheap replacement at 550k
  • Chris Baker DT- if we don't resign McClain and don't wanna spend a draft pick on that position
  • Mario Addison - pass rusher
  • Corradelle Patteson - a better version of Lucky Whitehead
  • Conner Barwin - if he's released.
I'd rather we sign Calais Campbell, JPP, and Eric Berry. Add those three, and we are super bowl bound. Guaranteed!

But at what draft cost?

4th probably. May be a bit rich for some, but I'd rather sign an actual player at WR in FA since I just don't think there's one that's going to be BPA for us in the draft.

82 of his 91 catches came against Power 5 opponents. That's silly. Tops in the country.

Guy is going to be a player for somebody. I wouldn't be surprised at all if NE took him

No splashy signings. Devote the early picks to defenders, and find value FAs to fill in the cracks. Just like we're doing successfully everywhere else. If we're lucky enough to get an extra pick or a talented but aging defender for Romo, great. Let's just not veer too far from what's obviously been working in putting the roster together.

This team is young and no need to panic with the way the season ended. So we look forward to next season and how can we come out in the win column once in the playoffs. Some of the things I would do.......

Defense is my top priority period. We must build this up if we want to contend

1. Chandler Jones DE......this guy would come in day 1 leading our team in sacks. Will be pricey if Arizona can't retain him but if he hits free agency I would go after him. (Some like JPP etc....doesn't matter but we need a monster at DE. Think Haley)

2. Calais Campbell DT......im double dipping on DL and making another splash. Would be doable since Campbell is 31 years old but a 1 or 2 year contract and he will perform and earn every penny. Can pass rush and stop the run, having a DL of......
Irving, Campbell, Collins, Jones would be looking superbowl ready. Add some more young talent in the draft and we on our way.

3. Jelani Jenkins OLB........wouldn't cost much as he had a down year but would pair up really nice with Lee and Jaylon. Jenkins can cover and play the run and I can't imagine what he could do when Sean Lee teaches him that film study.

Pipe dream 4th sign

Prayers and hope only but if we could somehow pull Eric Berry with this free agent class our defense would be upgraded in a major way even without the draft. That being said we most likely get Campbell, Jenkins and Berry as far as realistic goes......possibly

I would resign Claiborne and Carr but look to draft a corner high in the draft.

With Berry signing you keep Jones at safety with him or move him back to corner and resign Church or Wilcox....take your pick

I'm also resigning Terence Williams but looking to draft a Ryan Switzer in the draft. Can be a huge weapon for us especially in the return game immediately.

Don't look for Dallas to be players in the free-agent market, just as they haven't been as of late. I imagine they plan to build the defense of some of the ball just like they built the offensive side – through the draft. That doesn't mean they won't sign any free agents. Rather, the players Dallas will target will be the mid tier guys.

If we lose Tony this year, that means we're going to have like 60 mill in cap space in 2018 doe'. Martin obviously, Collins probably. Unless Demarcus just goes crazy he's not going to get a big contract.

There's some good, young DL on the market this year. Like when Seattle got Bennett and Avril, we can get some real talent this year that are young and in their prime.

I'd see if it was going to make a difference in signing the young guys, but we're going to have a boatload of cap next year. Don't just go all willy nilly, but we can definitely go get a guy that can play and it won't hurt us a bit.

Like the idea.
Dont think Jones will be available but there hopefully will be other options like the DE/OLB from San Diego.
refer Poe over Calais.
Prefer a DB over LB - if Jaylon comes back, we already have Jaylon and Lee to play the 2 LB formation (majority of plays?).

Let's spend like it's going outta style and get some catalytic defensive playmakers on the team and win the superbowl next year

Haha, don't even have to do that. But, we've been too passive on defense. Building through the draft is great, but when you have cap and your defense has sucked every year, sometimes you gotta make a move nomsain?

And people that say we aren't going to spend any money, we spent on Hardy when we had cap. Difference is, we haven't had that much cap recently. When we did, we tried to go get a pass rusher and got a guy who was insane instead.

If they just do their HW and spend the money right, we can give this defense a big boost. High character guys that can play. Bring 'em in. Then bring back Ware on the cheap so he can come win a SB in Dallas and show these young guns how a HoF'er does it.

I wouldn't hate it in the 4th round. Considering what we currently have under contract, and what we don't, the wide receiver spot is a need. As is returner.

That's sure what I'm expecting. And that's been their method for the past few years. The lone exception was rolling the dice on Hardy, and given how that went, I think it only strengthens their belief in the draft and being patient.

Anybody expecting splashy, big-money signings is only setting themselves up for disappointment.

And how do you think that experience will affect their decision-making? 'The last time we spent Big money, it blew up in our faces, let's do that again'.

That player you heard of may be Demarcus Ware.

It makes sense, there will be mutual interest and his salary will be within our range. He may be done but you could do a lot worse as a pass rushing specialist.
That's possible
A healthy Ware opposite Irvin could get some pressure

I think jelani won't cost much at all and will be a huge upgrade. Will Lee stay healthy......I think so......and Jaylon hasn't played yet. Grabbing a guy like Jenkins covers those questions

Poe or Berry will be available. I like berry and Campbell over Poe and.......

Sure, they did go 13-3. It was awesome. But, if we want to be serious contenders, we need a little more than a couple early round picks. You want to build your team through the draft, but a couple first year players aren't going to get us where we need to be this season. We have cap, why waste it?

I think it'll probably make them preface their decision by asking themselves if the player had been arrested after a chick on cocaine accused him of throwing her on a stack of guns. Hard pass.

Haha I don't set myself up for anything. Life is unpredictable. Mainly I just think of what'd be fun, and a Ware return would make sense.

I do know one thing. If we go bargain bin shopping again this season, and rely on first year players to improve this defense this season, our pass defense will be ranked in the bottom half of the league again. And I doubt we'll be so lucky with injuries this time around.

If Tony is gone, and we eat the hit this year, we have 50+ mill in cap next year with really only two contracts looming in Martin/Collins. We can sign some high character guys that can play. Doesn't mean we need to drop 40 mill.

we need to add 2 high impact DL if we want to beat a good OL.
if we resign Clairborne, the concern is injury.
