Odds: +200 (2-1)

Believe it or not, the oddsmakers in Vegas believe Romo will be on the Cowboys’ roster for Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season. It doesn’t make much sense to us, given the enormity of his contract and the fact that he may have a substantial amount of value on the open trade market. But at the end of the day, Vegas tends to have a pretty good idea as to how these types of situations will eventually play out.

According to people in my thread, no he doesn't, he is basically worthless.

From a trade standpoint?

Absolutely. As I stated, we should be ecstatic if we get a 3rd.

On the market though, he will be very valuable to a few teams.

Anyways, all the media guys who live at the Star believe he is pretty much gone and will likely be released. Considering Jerry hasn't traded a player in about 10 years...it's pretty believable.

i don't get why most are so opposed to this, it makes the most sense from a business perspective..
I'm only opposed if cutting him is the alternative/a low round pick. If we get a third or higher he needs to go.

The closer we keep him to the regular season the more likely a team will get desperate i.e. Minnesota Vikings last year. Easy to say you don't wanna part with a first rounder at this point in the year, but not when you're looking at squandering an entire season because you don't have a capable QB.

So, according to Vegas it is down to Dallas and Denver.

Good. Let those teams with trash at qb suffer another season with no hope because they want to play hard ball and not give up proper compensation.
I agree with this. there's a lot of sucky QB's out there that play on good teams. If Romo was the QB of those teams they'd be dangerous. Like Cincinnati comes to mind, obviously Denver. If you're Denver and you got that defense you'd be stupid not to give a 3rd or a 4th up for Romo. Some of these perennial playoff teams that lose a lot would be upgraded with Romo.

If Dallas had a great defense and good running attack and no QB and there was a Romo out there, I'd be mad if Jerry didn't take a flyer on him for a 3rd or a 4th. Heck we traded draft picks for Drew Hensen and I think Ryan Leaf, maybe Leaf was a FA, but you get my point. Romo already said he'd redo his contract to facilitate a trade, if I was another team I'd be jumping on that.

Great, we will now have a bunch of people come in and nervously proclaim, "This is Dak's team now" and "Romo will not be on the roster" over and over again. It's funny watching their insecurity grow with every passing day.
Mannnnnn shut up

You don't pay a backup 14m while you have every intention of grooming a young potentially franchise qb.

You get whatever you can in trade or save the money to improve a young team.

Bad business is holding on to a depreciating asset too long.

Not if he re-does his contract.

I don't think his presence is nearly as extreme as the outsiders tend to think. Who knows, maybe he'd actually prefer to stay. I can't imagine that being how competitive it is, but i'm also not going to pretend he may not feel that way.

The only question is, does he absolutely want to start somewhere or not?

If he wants to stay and be a backup, lead the Scout team, help make the team better, maybe take some snaps if Dak needs to miss a game... I'd be down with that. The only people making it a "circus" would the be the media and the really weird partisan effect Romo has had on some people.
