I was never really crazy about diamonds but it was what she had her heart set on, so that's what I got her.
I kept telling her let me get you other gemstones or Apple stock, at least they may maintain their value over time.
She's obviously tremendously upset and I'm trying to maintain my composure.
Guess I'm just looking for perspective

Got any?

Wise opinions on gem value. Diamonds are a scam.

Which is precious little help to your social issue. ;)

That sucks, I feel for her, engagement rings are precious to women. I feel for you cause fiancees are precious to men. Hope you all find it soon, but, believe me, there are a lot worse things in life. You still got each other, as corny as that may sound.

Thanks
Though I know it won't do any good, I have a primal, visceral need to yell and throw something.

Anyone got a javelin handy?

Want me to change the title of the thread to ex-fiance?

My wife actually has her set for sale.

$1000

Sorry to hear. It would do best for you both to not dwell on it. If it were me and my fiance were cool with it, I would get a CZ as a token temporary replacement. Then use an upcoming milestone anniversary, say 1st, 3rd or 5th year, as an opportunity to save and get a real one. Could be a great moment.

Also, would certainly be a good test of your ability to deal with setback and negotiate a solution together and as a unit.

Either way, best of luck, maybe/hopefully it will turn up. Just a thought.

It's simply lost, not stolen
But thanks

My wife lost a necklace and earrings on two separate occasions and insurance covered them both even though they weren't stolen. I've seen a friend get reimbursed when the diamond on a ring fell out of the setting. I'm guessing you didn't have her jewelry insured?

You only had insurance for theft?

What about your homeowner's insurance?

My wife lost hers while we were in Maui. Insurance covered it.

Yeah, my fiance too.

I'm just grateful my best friend found it under the endtable in his bedroom.

My poor fiancé, she's so absentminded......she took it off when she was visiting him. He was sick in bed and she wanted to give him a sponge bath so she took off the ring so she wouldn't lose it and...LOL....she lost it.

And she told me I have to work on my memory...LOL. Turns out she was right. I couldn't even remember my best friend being sick! I felt pretty bad about that but he wasn't offended. What a guy!

So let me get this straight... your fiance was at your best friend's place and took off her engagement ring to give him a sponge bath....in his bedroom... the friend you didn't remember was sick. For your sake, I hope you're trolling us. o_O

I believe we need to see some pics of the fiance to have proper perspective.

Man,I hate hearing this And
Hopefully it will turn up but in the meantime I'd imagine she is feeling pretty horrible, I assume your cash outlay was substantial and wholly understand your frustration in this matter(rest assured there's more on the horizon ,and in any relationship some take more work than others to maintain, you are dealing with a little turbulence pretty early)
1) accept this and don't let this dictate your mood when your around her(avoid excessive alcohol intake)
2) breakout your Sherlock Holmes 'hat' and backtrack her activities with her to locate it ( to illustrate :I would drop a $100 at a nail salon then send them a text for them to schedule an appointment,,, they always loved that) so, pick her brain when she last had/seen it
3) replace it with something cheaper, like from Walmart and call it good
4) if all else fails and none of the above help?,,, replace her.
