Yes, they knew they were going to lose Leary and they knew Free was probably retiring, though they tried to convince him to play out his last year of the contract....but were not expecting it.

They do gain 5$ mil in cap space from Free's retirement

I subscribed and saw an article about how the Cowboys plan on starting Ezekiel Elliott at RB, so unless you want similar insight, you be better off spending that $5.99 on an online site that provides...more
Thats why Im asking for money. Im cool as long as its your money

I am curious as to what the plan at RT. I dont think they will move an OG. If I could count on Green for 16, I could care less about Free. Green may even be a better OT. But he is just too brittle

Let me try to understand all the panic here. So Leary goes to Denver and we have a 1st round talent who is 4 years younger, cheaper, has a higher ceiling, and has already beaten Leary out of the starting job as a rookie to replace him. And Doug Free, one of the worst rated tackles in the NFL and only getting older, retires, freeing up $5 million in cap space to sign another veteran RT or go with Green or Cleary, who both looked pretty good this year, to replace him. What am I missing? Where is the panic? Did we lose our All Pro LT, OC or RG?

Well, you know, the thing is now Philly has Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith and have won FA once again, because you know how dominant they've been in the last 2 years when they also won FA...so, you know, panic because now we are bottom dwellers in the NFCE.

Hopefully they have a plan that is better than what my plan would have been.

Free retires
La'el Collins moves to RT
Re-sign Leary at LG

Oline is the least of our worries. Have you seen ou DLine? Jeff Heath is our sarter at Safety. We got 2 DB's.
Yep.Green and Cleary are probably better than Free at this point and they don't cost 5 million.

I really dont think they have any intention of moving either Collins or Martin to OT. If they did, they would have kept Leary, even at that price.

Honestly I think they plan on Green at RT. Green is a better OT then Collins or Martin likely would be and you dont have to shuffle the line. Unfortunately the reason I believe this is that the FO doesnt seem to value availability as much as they should. They probably look past Greens injury issues

Free is going to be missed. Another hole that needs to be addressed while our entire defense needs to be fixed.

Fans like to pick on certain players and Free is one of those players.

Right, I agree, Collins will reclaim LG and Martin stays at RG.
The team has repeatedly said neither would move to RT. Now that Free will retire, then it may change things, but I doubt it.
green was drafted to push Free, and take over RT. now I don't want to say it's his job to lose, as it shouldn't be handed to him. But is his his job to get first crack at it. Unless they draft an OT high, which I don't see happening.
And Green did fill in fairly decent at times last year when healthy.

I am not picking on him but stating facts.Free is a penalty machine and most of them are drive killers.he also surrendered a lot of sacks( probably bottom 5 in the league).
