Signed by Cowboys Jason Witten signs four-year extension through 2021

I saw the news of this extension at another site an literally groaned aloud. How the mighty have fallen...

From ESPN:

There is no guaranteed money in the deal, but the Cowboys have the right to restructure his $7.4 million base salary this year to create nearly $4 million in room. The money can come in handy if the Cowboys have the opportunity to acquire a difference-maker in a trade later this offseason or even during the season.

Interesting. So we've set it up where we pay Witten and don't have any dead cap hit unless we need some of the money for a FA move.

If we offer him 5m per say. How does that work? We pay 5 and Jets pay 1?

Yes. And he gets the same $6 million for doing work or $6 million for not lifting a finger. Which one do you think he'd choose? Which one would you choose if you're being honest?

Witten has found the Tom Brady fountain of youth and isn't going to retire until Tom does.

37 receptions and he moves to third all time. Of course Fitz will catch a few, who will outlast who? :)

He will be #4 when all is said and done. Fitz isn't going anywhere and I don't think either will eclipse Rice or TG.

Pretty much. Another one of these offseason non-issues for people to complain about before they understand what happened or why it was done.

Oh, draft. Hurry up and get here.
