Might be your best post ever.
Thanks. This one is definitely yours. We're both on a roll!
Might be your best post ever.
Why he is too much past his prime
I think so, too. He will blow right by 4, 5, and 6, Avery. That's for certain. He will be #4 when all is said and done. Fitz isn't going anywhere and I don't think either will eclipse Rice or TG.
This is not farfetchedAll part of the master plan to make other teams think they won't take a TE in the first round and lull them into a false sense of security and then BAM with the 28th pick in the 2017 NFL draft the Dallas Cowboys take TE....
I'm too lazy to read 7 pages..any word on what cap room this creates now?
He'd still get open up the middle against the giants. If Jaylon can play with a brace.. Witten should play with a Segway...
Sounds like it saves us $4M against the cap this year without adding any new guaranteed $ to his deal. More or less a phony contract to move his $ around for the teams sake while giving Jason the option of continuing his career if he so chooses.

Exactly, it doesn't mean anything except 4 Million more in cap space.
The issue is why they are doing it if they have 10 Million already and get at least 5 Million more when they move Romo.
I don't see any of the current FAs as a guy that takes that much to sign - are there rumors of a top player on another team being cut for cap room?
I think that's incorrect, stash. Because Revis had 6 million guaranteed, he can sign with anyone at any price. If the Cowboys sign him for 1 million per, the Jets now owe him $5 million instead of 6 because his 1 million earned with the Cowboys gives the Jets a million dollar off-set.Revis' prior contract with the Jets requires that they pay him $6 million.
If he doesn't play a snap in 2017, he gets paid $6 million.
But any of the money someone else might pay him gets offset to the Jets, meaning that Revis doesn't get it, the Jets get that back. So he gets paid $6 million not to play, and any team wanting him to put in the work has to pay completely above and beyond that $6 million and whatever else he demands.
Still interested?
Seems like a good move. I am not understanding the rationale why the people who don't like this extension feel the way they do.
He's older and has lost a step or 10, but he also has proven durability and is reliable in both blocking and catching. Plus it helps the cap which I know people love to drone about.
I dunno if this will change using a pick on a TE this year but I can't find any fault with this move.
That is kind of what I said.wut da ...

That comes at a price.I'm not wild about this unless it's mainly to free up cap space.
Says who you? Maybe I have higher standards than you do?
How is signing an over the hill Witten for another 4 years a SMART move?
But again, lets wait till we see the contract. My bet is this is nothing more than a cap saving move.

Another dumb move by management. Ill try not to comment on the details until I see them.
Gotcha. I must have misunderstood your post, my man.Yes, that's what I've been saying. Did I put something in there that led you to believe otherwise?
Ultimately, up to the $6 million mark, he gets it whether he works for it or not.
