He's older now, but I can personally vouch for his game a few years ago:thumbup:

Yup, not a surprise. A couple of quotes from the oral history of how Romo became the Cowboys starting QB:

Zuriel Smith, Cowboys receiver, 2003: "I was actually shocked at how athletic he was. We were playing basketball on the courts by the practice field. ... He was dunking."

Darren Woodson, Cowboys safety 1992-2004: "I didn't know who Romo was until training camp. I'm watching him throw balls against us in training camp, and his ball was better than Quincy Carter's, for sure. He was the most accurate of the bunch, and to me, he was the most athletic. He was more athletic than Quincy."

FTR, Quincy Carter was a 3 sport star athlete in HS and was drafted by both MLB and the NFL. Quincy wasn't a great QB but he was one heck of an athlete. And yet Woodson clearly thought that the kid from Wisconsin was the better athlete. That should tell you about how athletic Romo was coming out of Eastern Illinois.

Also Romo was born in San Diego, CA (so he's a local guy for us)

Fantasy camp @ an NBA game, huh? Gotta give it to Cubes - it's about the only way the Mavs are drumming up interest for the home finale. Gawd.
 
Why they never let Quincy do this is beyond me....Drew and Chad are probably upset also.
 
I think these kinds of promotions can be fun, but only if you let the dwarf come up to bat.
 
I am a big Romo fan. I have stated many times that the lack of playoff success was not because of him...in fact...without him we would not even have been in the mix during his tenure as starting QB. But this publicity stunt is ABSURD!!!!! Regardless of the fact that our lack of playoff success was not necessarily entirely his fault...there is a little TOO MUCH pomp and circumstance for someone who won 2....2.....playoff games. Their is an absurd amount of attention and hype surrounding the Cowboys for a team that has won 2 playoff games in the last 20+ years. I personally think the over the top hype we get is one of the reasons we can never get over the hump when we get close....because we are lauded with the spoils usually reserved for winners....without actually having to win. And I know that eats at other teams/players....and God knows it irritates fans of other teams. Let's hope Dak can stay focused through all of the attention surrounding the Cowboys....and FINISH!

He just said that he was a bit embarrassed, but also really honored that they'd care that much.

He's having fun. Full practice and game day experience. Then gets to ride the pine with a couple of his Mavs buddies.

I'm actually surprised that Romo agreed to do it. But you got one life, why not.

It is always interesting that we stay in the news without winning, and it does bring us more hate. Romo has created more news than Ryan or Brady. Funny thing is if Ryan retired tomorrow, he wouldn't get as much news as Romo. Wearing the star has its benefits.
