Well hope he's good at catching in traffic. Doesn't look like he'll be creating much separation.

I've been predicting a move to OT for him but they may give him a few years to see if he can be a TE. Looks like he has a shot at TE.

Maybe so but with his height and those long arms, he might not need much space to begin with. I'm wondering what his forty time is, though. He does appear slow but perhaps those long legs tend to make it appear as such. Anyway, he'll either make it or he won't. We'll see.

He does look extremely slow to me as well.
Can't imagine how slow he will be in pads.

I think the appearance of him being slow is more an illusion than anything. I just rewatched a few more times and he looks more like a long strider than a speed strider. His tree trunk legs appear to be moving slow, but he's going 5+ yards in two strides. He may be physically moving slow but his strides cover so much ground that it washes out.

I will say though, his cuts are putrid. He has little burst in and out of breaks. Looking like a pure vertical or one cut seam guy.

Fast is a relative term. Will he ever be as fast as a 6' 3" 240 lb TE? Nope. Is he fast for a 6'8" 280 lber? Yes! And, not being fast does not equal not athletic. The dude is very athletic for 280. Witt isn't fast, but he gets open because of his route running. Rico will get open simply because of his size. If a 6' 200 lb SS is glued to his left side he is still open on his right side! Seriously, how do you guard that on the goal line? And because he is athletic he can also become a very good route runner. The fact that he has been working OT during practice is a major plus, he will be like having a sixth OL in the game, but one that you have to cover. I do think, once Witt retires, they will want to pair him with a smaller TE/H-back.

I think people have un real expectation as to how fast a 275 lbs athlete is supposed to run.

He's going to dwarf every DB out there and outweigh most LBers by more than 25 lbs.

doing some quick googling on averages for NFL TEs.....
- average height is 6'3", Rico is 6'8"
- average weight is approx. 250, Rico is 280
- average 40 is 4.77, Rico has been clocked at 4.75

He's considerably bigger and slightly faster. IF the dude can effectively block, run routes and catch he could be an asset
