Went to the island for lunch, some idiot called in a bomb threat, so they closed down the causeway. Had to duck into a bar by the lighthouse and had a few drinks. Never made it across, but had a good time.
WTH...A good time is better than a bomb blast!!

there used to be a mom and pop store a few miles from here in the middle of King Ranch country that i used to stop at for beer, they had a cow vertebrae with an arrowhead stuck in it that someone had found back in 50s. It was pretty damn cool.
That is way damn cool, Coach! Was it for sale or just a display for the store?

It was for display, it worked, I made a point to stop there, even though the beer was hot and more expensive. They also had a 7 ft rattlesnake skin, from a rattler that was killed in there outdoor men's room. They had the pictures to prove it.
They haven't caught anyone yet, it's all good, found a little pub that charged 2 bucks for longnecks and 6 bucks for double vodka waters. Salud!

2 bucks for a brew is incredibly cheap!!! That's awesome, brother.

A 7 foot rattler. Must have been an Eastern Diamond. Those suckers get huge, and I think they may extend to Texas. Prairie rattlers are small (do you guys even have those so far south?), maybe a Timber?

Ask Haley, I love my snakes!!! :D All animals.

Diamondback, I killed one over 6 foot long a few years ago. I almost stepped on it, scared the crap out of me. I was packing a .22 pistol, shot it in the head and then cut the head off with my machete. My uncle skinned it and made care seca.

That's a huge diamondback! I just read Texas doesn't have the Eastern. So if they are that large, it's the Western. We have those out here. Beautiful snakes.

You guys are lucky, you have coral snakes, a sub species of the cobra. Beautiful species.

I used to have some nice snakeskin boots.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

(I'd a figured out a to pilfer that spearhead, brother :D)
Ha, copy that! But I was in trespass mode,I had a whole poncho liner covered in good, perfect and odd pieces ,,,gorgets(throat armor) ,flat oval /rectangular pieces where the holes were beveled from (probably) bow drilling half way thru on both sides, about 4 white hand made marbles (never figured those things out) and some fired clay pipe stems/bowls(broken) sold it all for 1k when I made a geographical jump.

You guys talking snakes!
It was the weirdest thing happened just today, me and one of those 23 y.o. kids had just finished crack- sealing a asphalt driveway and were going to seal coat it, two other of the half brothers pulled up(apparently their momma took on all comers:lmao:) and about a 4' snake had tried to cross the driveway and got stuck length wise in a seam I'd just done,that rubber is better than 400° when laid down, that snake was pink colored/cooked,,, horrible way to die, then there was 2 lizards and a horny toad looking thing(it had a big long tail ) stuck within two feet of each other on another seam,, they all prolly died within seconds and you can't help but feel bad for them,,,
