I'm in the minority, but I think long term Awuzie will be the one who plays in the slot, not Lewis. I know Lewis is shorter, but he is also more physical in coverage and is better at playing the ball in the air. Meanwhile Awuzie fits the slot perfectly with his great football IQ, blitzing ability, and short arms. Either way I think Dallas found 2 starting corners in this draft.

Maybe. They both have the potential to play inside and outside. I'm assuming Lewis gets the first shot inside because one, they obviously liked Awuzie better and Carroll is probably the most vulnerable veteran CB and he's going to be a boundary guy and two, Lewis is shorter and I assumed they were just going to start him inside first rather than moving him around his rookie year. But you could well be right that Lewis outperforms Awuzie and jumps him on the roster and that Awuzie comes along as that younger slot guy this year and next.

Oh I agree with you about how they will view it in year 1. Awuzie is most likely going to be started out on the outside with his size(despite his arm length), and I wouldn't be surprised if they moved him around a lot like they have with Byron Jones.

I just think Jourdan Lewis is going to have a Cliff Harris career arc; he will start out at slot and prove to be elite there, so much so that the team will put him on the outside and realize he's great there as well.

I can see that with Lewis.

Just listening to their interviews from rookie camp, it sounds like they've already told Awuzie they are going to move him around and that they like his position flexibility. Lewis' interview was more 'wherever they need me.'

Sidenote, Lewis' confidence in the interviews is impressive. I think he's really going to be a good player. I can't wait to hear hints of stories come out of the locker room re: how Scandrick treats or mistreats these guys. You hear whispers about how hard he was on Mo and how Mo had trouble dealign with it. I beat that won't be the case with Lewis and company.

As I said in the post you quoted, I expect Taco to make some plays and create havoc on occasion. I put no numbers in terms of sacks, pressures or anything else.
I would be thrilled if he were the next JPP. But I doubt it.

Agreed, I'm not counting on him to be the next JPP, but they are very similar physically and athletically. I also don't think JPP is elite as a pass rusher, he benefited greatly early in his career playing with Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck.
