I am interested in that other event in your family also. You mentioned it on another thread a few days ago?
Just kidding about SI, but that other one was true. One of my nieces apartment was broken into by mistake. They are both serving life without parole.

It is a fantastic film about the race by Roger Maris to break Ruth's record of 60. Produced by Billy Crystal (a huge Yankee fan). Accurate story, gripping (deals a lot with Mantle's exploits off the field -- they were teammates at the time, as was Berra and some other greats).

Thomas Jane (The Punisher) and Barry Pepper (a **** ton of movies) star in it as Mantle and Maris, respectfully.

Another HBO original.
Cool,if I find that in DVD I'll snag it

There's a very recent biography made by an author who couldn't take the illegitimate critical sensationalism of Cobb any longer. He did tons and tons of research. I haven't gotten it, I have too many other books to read, but I will one day.

I'll look it up and let you know what it's called, Melon
Read a book about BASEBALL...God, l stand stand watching it...never mind reading about it....

We wanted the death penalty, but with appeals it would have dragged on for years. Family had been through enough. Drop appeals and throw away the key.
Yeah. I hear you. Sad waste of life. Those stories turn my stomach.

Geez, brother. My condolences, Coach.
Thanks, you never realize how helpless you are til,you see your family suffer and you can't do anything about it. It's been over 11 years and the family is closer than ever.

OK, lighten the mood. Gonna look for a good pic to post before bed. Headed to,SPI first thing in the morning.

It's more about a player and the truth of him. I didn't think I'd particularly enjoy John Adams (David McCullough -- 2x Pulitzer prize winner for his biographies, other was for Truman, I believe), but I adored it.

The trick with biographies, Boxer, is making them a story rather than a series of events tying all together; where the person being written about is more of a character than just the subject, while still keeping it 100% factual.
