Swaim was a beast before got hurt last season, when he went down , our run game actually suffered, if only briefly

If you an optimist, it's a decent grade. If your a pessimist, it's a horrible grade.

Right now there are a lot of unknowns with that group to fairly evaluate it. A lot of "if's" cloud it. A lot.

1/27 Byron Jones CB Connecticut - solid starter
2/60 Randy Gregory OLB Nebraska - bust/drug addict( never plays another down in the NFL)
3/91 Chaz Green OT Florida - solid when played tackle for Smith, very injury prone(jury still out)
4/127 Damien Wilson ILB Minnesota - given starter role this year - another stupid decision off the field
5/163 Ryan Russell DE Purdue - liked his size/lack of burst/( just couldn't get there)
7/236 Mark Nzeocha OLB Wyoming - love his speed -injury prone(jury still out)
7/243 Laurence Gibson OT Virginia Tech - JAG
7/246 Geoff Swaim TE Texas - serious foot injury, showed promise/great value pick)

still too many question marks due to injury concerns for a draft class that should be clearer by now...

Going back to 2014, which has now had 3 full years of NFL experience, only 3 out of the 9 are still with the team.

Out of those 3, one is an all pro guard in Martin, an often injured DE in Lawrence and a solid backup/spot starter in Hitchens.

Martin is a lock to remain, but the other two may be looking for a new club next year.

All of these players went pretty much where they were expected to go except for Nzeocha and Gibson who may have been projected to be undrafted and Gregory was a top-5 talent that dropped to the 2nd round.

I don't recall any worries about Wilson off the field (and he's still innocent until proven guilty). We were developing him nicely, although he didn't have much of a spot given SAM linebackers don't play much these days with the pass happy offenses out there.

Green can't stay healthy and Swaim came along nicely as a #2 TE that can block and catch a little, but he got hurt as well.

This is a good example of why judging drafts is a little ludicrous. It often comes down to players staying healthy and the coaching staff's ability to develop the talent. I think the staff helped develop these players, but they can't stay on the field due to injury issues (again, Wilson has yet to be suspended).

You want to see at least 1-2 players stick per draft. Hope for 2-3. If Jones has a solid career then it will be considered a decent draft. If another player sticks and provides a legit role on the team then it will be a good draft.

If that's the case then 2016 looks like the greatest draft of all time

Pretty average... Jones is afraid of turnovers and hasn't been the difference maker I was hoping for.
I agree the honeymoon is over for Bryon Jones after this season. The moving of positions his first year was not ideal, but no one walks into a perfect situation. For where we picked in the draft I am okay after year 2, he needs a big jump this year IMO to get his 5th year option.

So disappointing with recent Wilson arrest...our D always gets hit hard and we are not all that good anyway....Marinelli majic is our only hope

1/27 Byron Jones CB Connecticut - The next Deion
2/60 Randy Gregory OLB Nebraska - The GOAT
3/91 Chaz Green OT Florida - No need for 5 linemen when you have Chaz Green
4/127 Damien Wilson ILB Minnesota - Model citizen
5/163 Ryan Russell DE Purdue - More trade value than Dexter Coakley
7/236 Mark Nzeocha OLB Wyoming - Never ending nacho ads
7/243 Laurence Gibson OT Virginia Tech - Best swing tackle in the league
7/246 Geoff Swaim TE Texas - Makes you almost forget about Jason Witten

How'd I do?
