If he was healthy and able to practice - he would be. I'm sure they were encouraged by his progress thru 2 weeks of preseason, and would like him to get as much practice and reps as possible, but he's injured.

I wonder how much of this decision was due to health, how much of it was Rico isn't completely ready to play at an NFL level and how much of this was about preservation of a roster spot.

This could be Witten's last year. If so Hanna, Swaim and Rico would be a pretty strong replacement group for next year, sans Witten.

Remember GB's top CB Shields missed the entire 2016 season with a concussion. Hopefully Rico's isn't as severe.
