Rico placed on IR

Gathers has a nasty concussion. I've seen it mentioned he took a shot that impacted his jaw. He's in the protocol.

If he was healthy and able to practice - he would be. I'm sure they were encouraged by his progress thru 2 weeks of preseason, and would like him to get as much practice and reps as possible, but he's injured.

So maybe it's more of a broken jaw than it is a concussion at this point as well. Double whammy.

Is he eligible to return?

Yes.

Teams no longer have to designate a player ahead of time, they are simply allowed to recall up to two players during the season/post-season once the eight week window has elapsed.

People need to get off of the Rico train...let the guy get better...and, perhaps is just isn't ready and they want to sit him once his head starts to clear...the guy did not play against any first team defenses in the pre-season...he looked good, but not ready to take over just yet....pet cats are not guaranteed anything

He's going on IR to make room for someone else. He could probably play this week if we needed him.

Lots are assuming that but that's a very risky way to retain a player
That's one return that you no longer have
To me a bigger concern is the docs not clearing him after this long
Maybe the team is gaming the system. Maybe he still hasn't cleared concussion protocol
