And all the news outlets did not think Trump would win.

I don't know if you understand the fury of the American middle class over Patriotism....
and look at this **** show were in now but I don't get what that has to do with cord cutters

YOu can pretend that racism and sexism don't exist if it makes you feel better.

I watch sports and entertainment to get away from all the crap in the news, etc.

And to be blunt things are so much better in so many ways then they were 30 years ago as regards racism, etc that those crying about it now have absolutely no concept.

The national anthem is sooooo annoying, but it is a good time to piss or grab a beer or a knee.

If people want to protest and their employers don't mind then have at it but I don't need an update after the anthem telling me who was kneeling.

Talk about it after the game or all during the week but don't cut in after a National anthem to tell me who just protested it.

LOL at the continual chatter around the national anthem protests.

Holy hell.

So you'll watch the NFL games even when some of their players are thugs and criminals off the field, but a guy does what he is legally allowed to do, protest, and that turns you off to the game?

Some of you have screwed up priorities.

Don't underestimate the effect of politicization and corruption. It's creeping into every aspect of people's lives and most of them are absolutely sick of it.

The NFL players are hurting their pocketbooks.

CBA negotiations, when it comes to money, are very closely tied to ratings and revenue. Ratings bring premium rates for advertising, thus revenue for TV contracts and all that implies.

Last night's kickoff opener was down 12% from the ratings of a year ago. Ratings were already down last year.

I suggest the players get off their butt and stand for the anthem, and stop trying to be social justice warriors. That is, if they don't want to see their checks shrink next CBA.

People are developing a cold shoulder toward athletes. If they want that golden egg, they'd better stop punching the goose.

On a personal note, I can feel my interest waning. I NEVER thought I'd say that about the NFL. Stop preaching to me, and play football.

FYI, there is a boycott of the NFL going on. I didn't watch the game last night either. The only game I will watch are Cowboy games and I am watching it in a manner that won't be counted in their ratings.

I found that announcement awkward and forced last night on who didn't stand for the anthem, just get to the kick off already

my personal boycott is to wait until the game starts to tune in (after the national anthem), and flip the channel EVERY SINGLE time a commercial comes on....I am not supporting these kneeling clowns or the NFL specifically...I could not tell you one commercial that I watched in last nights game...I was flipping to movies and then back after 2 or 3 minutes....so, those advertisements were lost on me

I was going to type something in an attempt to get you to consider other perspectives..
Then I realized that it wouldn't matter anyway. Unfortunately your mind sounds closed. This is probably not the place anyway.
PM me if you want to engage in a conversation about the "kneeling clowns".

I don't want to know period. If the NFL was smart they would stop giving these guys a platform by showing them do it! Let them sit or kneel but don't advertise it!

You guys are alright with players being social justice warriors as long as what they're fighting doesn't make you uncomfortable.

Anyway this borders on being a political discussion, at the very least socio-political. Mods need to keep it strictly football around here.

Isn't the decline in ratings relative to the overall decline in tv ratings due to the current technology available and choices ? We saw the first impact of fans habits with MNF moving out of network TV.

Personally I've felt the NFL needed a correction as it's been growing at record levels for years which has inflated ticket and merchandise prices .

I think most fans would welcome a market correction in the NFL.
Yes. Ratings have nothing to do with the popularity of the league. Me and my group of friends don't have cable and watch more football than anyone I know.

... or pay respect to those that gave their lives for the freedoms we have today.
... or you can just take those things for granted and go get some popcorn.

I actually believe the ratings are dropping because people are protesting the social injustices and the fact Kaep isn't on a team.

They exist and will always exist.

Making them into the boogeyman and using them as an excuse for one's failings in life is something I won't accept. Pull your bootstraps up and get on with it. Humanity has gone through much worse than being told you can't use a certain bathroom or because some statue that's been standing for 100 years offends you. Life is hard for everyone.

Jim Brown said it best when asked about race. I suggest you listen to the interview.
Racism does in deed exist...
Right here on the good ole Cowboyszone even.

I'll prey for you my friend.
