There was a reason Dak was not drafted before the 4th round

93.8 rating with edge pressure and a couple of drops yesterday.
I think the problem most people have are A)we lost and B) an inordinate amount of Dak's incompletions are of the variety you'd expect him to complete. He's in the low 20s in yards per attempt and he's throwing noncatchable balls.

If you throw 16 incompletions and those balls aren't travelling far and they're not catchable that's a problem. Especially when the other team is sending extra run defenders.

Teams are daring Dak to throw outside the hash marks and up the field and he just can't do that consistently. Look at the 2nd deep ball Dak threw against the Rams to Dez on the opening drive. If he throws it inside its a touchdown. Instead Dez has to become a defender because the ball is behind him. Those things matter.

Dez scores here with a better throw

This is Dez winning on the snap and getting open within 5 yards of the line and has nothing but daylight in front of him.

This is simple pitch and catch. Dak Isn't under pressure so this isn't on the OL as people like to suggest. Dez is wide open so this isn't forcing the Ball to Dez as people like to suggest. This is simply Dez getting open and one of the 7 uncatchable balls he saw thrown his way on the afternoon.

But people will say look at his passed rating! As if they didn't watch the game.

Everybody has weaknesses when they come out . Brady was said to be not big, will get killed, extremely slow ( ran the slowest 40!time ever by a qb, slower than some OL, DL that year at the combine) weak arm, doesn't throw a nice spiral so his WRs might have difficulty catching the ball, and not enough experience under center ( split time under center including his Sr year with a guy name Henson. Those were just some of the criticisms I can remember about him. Hopefully Prescott works on his weaknesses and gets better. If not he will understand what the NFL really means-Not For Long if he doesn't improve.

Would you like a list of first round QBs who did nothing, because Dak has already exceeded dozens of them?

Again, Tony Romo wasn't even on the field at this point of his career. He got better. Why is it assumed Dak won't?
I've yet to see anyone say they don't think Dak will get better.

I think people are pointing out flaws this season that were not exposed last season and it's hurting us today.

You can acknowledge poor play while also hoping/assuming things get better.

This is the Romo situation all over again with fans turning on the QB after a loss.

The vaunted oline is in the toilet, we have almost no run game, Dez is a shadow of his former self currently, and Witten may as well not even suit up anymore. Dak no doubt has not been great, and has areas he needs to improve in, but I'm not sure what 2nd year QB wouldn't have these issues when their offense is a complete mess.

Even with all these issues, our offense managed to score 30 points against one of the best defenses in the league.

I get folks are frustrated, but lets not miss the forest for the tree's when it comes to this offense, or team as a whole.

like with tony when the team loses the qb takes the blame when they win he gets the credit and if they continue losing the pressure will get even more on him from fans and media

Yay! Another BASH DAK thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are the ZEKE threads? The guy drafted #4 who is averaging 3.6 ypc? I will start it.............

I hear you, but no one was comparing Zeke to Jim Brown already. Dak was already annointed a top 5 QB. It drove me nuts. I just dont get why we are so quick to rank players against players. Let them play. Dak has been exposed and his flaws are starting to show. This a very very smart league. So lets see what happens from here. I never thought this team was good enough to win a SB this year. I still do think we even make the playoffs. Thats how I felt. Our schedule this year compared to last year was brutal. Zeke has alot of growing up to do also. He had an amazing year last year. Amazing. I have no clue what his work ethic is, im not at practice but i believe he needs to mature as a person on and off the field. That play he gave up on in the Denver game just does not look good. I think if Zeke matures he will be ok.

For sure, he could have played better than he did.

Be he could have played a lot worse.

We ran for 189 yards against the Rams. Many of Dak's in completions came from a clean pocket.

This blame anything but Dak syndrome is kind of crazy. You'd think Dak was on the Browns.

Do people even watch the game, or are they just going off perception?

Dak isn't throwing the ball shorter. If anything, he's trying to force it too much

He's not accurate? Did you watch him last season?

Can you read or nah? I said *IF*

It was never fair how they all killed Tony when we lost. But when Dak loses..its the defense sucks and our coaching suck etc. Which are true for the most part but my point is Tony never got that luxury.

The offense as a whole has been a mess this season. That includes Dak and his issues. That is not excluding Dak from the blame. He's been part of it.

Dak is playing well enough that if things around him go like they did last year we'll win a lot if games.

Dak is playing poorly enough that if things around him don't go like they did last year we'll be in many coin flip games.

Which hey fair he's a 4th round qb in his 2nd year. But the dame people who are quick to blame the OL or WR play are the same ones who said Dak was slighted when people didn't declare him a top 5 qb coming into this season based on his rookie year. You remember the thread with all the dog peeing on ESPN logo emojis.

People can't have it both ways. That in completion to Dez in the tweet above perfectly incapuslates what is wrong with our offense right now. It's just one play but it killed a long play, a drive and led to an int/points for the other team the next play. Those are the plays that are made that win or lose a game.

And when you're unsure if your qb can consistently hit a pass 7 yards downfield that's.... Frustrating.

I feel I've been pretty fair in my criticism in both Dak and the offense as a whole. And I never thought Dak was slighted for not being rated top 5.

At the end of the day, there isn't one area of this offense that has been consistently good, so far this season.

And what 2nd year QB does not?

I made a very broad statement, I didn’t bash the guy at all. I even asked IF he is checking down more why isn’t Beasley getting looks, yet I got attacked for that. Apparently asking simple questions or stating he needs to improve somehow means you’re bashing him. I don’t get it

Dak was not drafted before the 4 th round

he is not accurate - has no touch on his passed

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/dak-prescott?id=2555260

Weaknesses Beat up this year thanks to poor protection. When he wasn't being sacked, he was being hit hard. Not as competitive a rusher in 2015. Sacks and usage in run game might be taking a toll. Increase in short pass attempts from 86 to 208 this year reason for higher completion numbers. Accuracy on intermediate and deep throws dropped sharply. Pocket poise has been compromised. Hyper aware of pressure around him and lacks awareness to slide and find temporary shelter to make throw. Concern over pressure too often trumps ability to get through progressions. Must speed up the pace of his reads. Footwork is a mess. Slight stride onto stiff upper leg with little weight shift. Restricted follow through and too often tries to muscle throws with upper body. Throws to target rather than leading or throwing them open on short/intermediate throws. Too respectful of underneath coverage and must be more willing to challenge the defense. Needs to improve anticipation.

NFL Comparison Brett Hundley

Bottom Line Hard to find an NFL comp for Prescott because he's built like Donovan McNabb, but lacks McNabb's ability and polish. Prescott has NFL size, mobility and enough arm, but the tape shows a player who must improve his mechanics, poise and quickness through his progressions if he is to become a full-time starter in the NFL. There are absolutely draftable traits and upside, but he will need extended work to smooth out his flaws. Until then, a team would be wise to utilize him on short-yardage packages

Another Romo cry baby eh? LOL

I miss Tony, wish we had him last year and this year before calling it quits. But I am proud to have Dak as our QB.

Tony isn’t coming back and he made a comment at Clink on Sunday about making the right decision. There’s a tweet somewhere. Dak will improve

god, enough. if not for him we lose last week. he did well against the giants. he did incredible all of last year.

worst fan base after a loss.
many would rather be right regardless of what it takes vs. just simply enjoy a game.
