Dez will play out his contract. JJ is emotionally attached to him and his de facto father figure. He has Dez’s POA. His contract was not re-worked for cap savings for a reason. When the contract is up, then JJ will have to make a tough decision to make. At that point JJ can walk away if he has to.

The premise of this thread only makes even the slightest bit of sense if you actually have any faith in our "brain" trust to spend that $16.5M correctly.

Isn't Kellen on a knee year deal? We're gonna need that cap space to compete with his offers.

"I like the way they fought. "

I remember a poster who used to be here more regularly and fancied himself a historian of the Cowboys would say after a loss

I love the way Garrett gives nothing to the media

Or

That was the best PC I've seen

And all you could do is shake your head

I think they could use the 16.5M more effectively.

I'll agree, but not because I don't think Dez is talented, Dez has mucho talent but he needs to be paired with an elite passer, someone with a golden arm that can consistently place the ball in tight windows where only Dez can get it,,, someone that can do that with a deep ball. Dak may be an excellent quarterback but he is not an elite passer, not now and possibly not ever. The pairing is bad for us, bad for Dak and bad for Dez,,,, but the good news is that players like Dez have trade value to teams that think their QB is a good enough passer.

No, you are doing the trolling.

Are you claiming Free didn't suck last year?

The Heath analysis was based on 1 game. Don't strawman that into his career.

Good deflection. The bottom line is that your threads are filled with analysis thats only fits your agenda.

I mean did we really need another Dez thread from you? This is only the 3rd thread about Dez you've created in a month. We get it you don't like Dez...

You did this same crap with Doug Free. Everyone on this forum knows your schitck by now.

This video is pretty funny.

Using clips from 5+ years ago and using one clip where he is congratulating the team on a win implying that he is being cancerous.

He should redo his contract. I would hate for him to go to New England and you know...
...become a cheater? The Pats aren't all that either anymore. Dez is way over rated, over paid and over appreciated by far too many. I've been campaigning for the Cowboys to trade him since before he got his big payday and I've been right this whole time. He's a good receiver but far for the elite receiver he is being paid to be.

Again, the same could be said about Witten and Crawford but not seeing threads pop up about their lack of value/$ cap numbers. Would rather keep the talent we do have and allow Linehan to earn his paycheck for once. If we were aggressive in FA I could see your point, but we're not and that's by choice as has been displayed for 4-5 seasons ongoing.
Witten just has high cap number because of restructuring. He was always underpaid in his prime years.

Witten's career average pay per year has been 4.2 million. That for one of the all-time great TEs in the history of football and one of the all-time great Cowboys players.

That's a certainty. Unless he takes a major pay cut. No other club will pay him like the Cowboys have.
I don't know if Jerry will let it happen.

Stephen was not going to give him the big contract originally but Jerry eventually over-ruled him.

I've spoken about a dozen times on here about Witten and his decline. The guy is going to retire after this year
If anybody has earned the benefit of the doubt, it's Witten. He has been the consumate professional his entire career.

No trade value due to the contract.

Dak has put the ball in perfect position many times and Dez dropped it. If the ball hits an NFL WR in both hands, he should catch it.

If a pay cut is good enough for Free then it's good enough for Des or it's see ya later!
Honestly, I think they would be better without him. They waste too many passes trying to get him the ball and he'll meltdown if they don't.

There are mid tier free agents every year that would be an improvement. Pierre Garcon for instance.

I would rather have 2 Bruce Butlers in 2018 than 1 Dez Bryant. Dak's best stretch last yr was when Dez was out. Everybody was involved in the offense and Dak was targeting everybody. The offense shrink when Dez came back because he needs to have them targets or his feelings get hurt. Dallas would save 8mil in 2018 by cutting him or trading him. I would try to trade him.

Give it Time.

Do you guys already forget that Dez is the player that brought the cowboys back during the playoff game?

Dez was playing at a really high level the second half of last season.

Give it Time to see how He finishes this year.

Also, no chance in hell he gets cut anyway. So don’t waste your time arguing about it.
He will get cut, if not this offseason the following. Dallas said it didnt want to be paying him into his 30s. Dez isnt worth the headache if you ask me. Yes he will give you a couple games where he just dominates but he's being paid to do that every week. Not just a couple times a yr.
