Zeke shouldn’t settle. I’m not him so if he does it settlement should include Friel being banned from Giants games. For life. And forced to wear an Emmitt Smith jersey to work for 5 years.

I just wonder why he would even consider it if there is nothing to the allegations.

Exactly. I don't think this info is coming from Zeke's team. He's releasing statements about how he's fighting to clear his name. Accepting a settlement would be an admission of guilt to a degree.

He's taken it this far-- if I'm him, I take it all the way.

I've basically followed what Daniel Wallach has been reporting and his opinions because he has followed the case diligently and been in court in person. More importantly, he's been pretty much dead on correct as to what goes on and he now believes that EE will win his case.

All of this depends on the accuracy of the report. If the NFL has come to EE about a settlement, it shows that they are now worried they will lose the case. If David Moore failed to mention that it was EE's team that came to the NFL about a settlement...then that's a different story.

If it is the former, then I negotiate a hard deal. Your first offer in negotiations or settlements should always be a strong one in your favor because you never know what you may get and if your offer gets rebuked then you have wiggle room to still get what you want as you continue your negotiations.

In summation, you're right...I don't really know much about employment law. But, I trust Daniel Wallach's expertise over your opinions and I do know a lot of about negotiations and settlements since I've been involved with them on a corporate level for the past 15 years which includes union negotiations.

FWIW, his credibility would seem to be strained because I believe he was predicting it would never get this far anyway, that the Brady precedent would have this quickly shot down in the lower courts.

How could you not know the ins and outs of employment law?
I’m ashamed to share this board with you.

Probably like any situation where someone innocent or thinks they have the law on their side takes a settlement. It's simply management of risk.

IIRC, he's said nothing about that. I know Mike Fisher has been following him and Fisher has been predicting that. But Wallach has stated that he thought EE had a case all along, that there were differences between this and the Brady case.

The only thing I can recall him being wrong on is that he didn't think the NFL would win the most recent appeal. But he then predicted that EE would file for a TRO and be granted it again this week.

I haven't really followed Wallach before September, so if he predicted that prior to September then I apologize.

But if he didn't hurt her-- what conduct is detrimental?

I get it, but Zeke did have a rocky offseason and I think even he has admitted he needs to make better choices. I dont believe taking a one game suspension for conduct detrimental and being cleared of DV would be a bad choice on Zekes part. But hell this is all speculation anyways. We have no idea what the supposed settlement looks like.

Probably Boobgate and his other shenanigans.

But the kicker is the NFL never dinged him for those. Only the DV.

Boobgate is a separate issue and the NFL stated their ruling did not even include that incident (nor the alleged nightclub fight). This case is only focused on the accusations of Tiffany Thompson.

If the NFL went to the NFLPA to reach a settlement then it makes me think they are nervous. Goodell is concerned that both him and Friel will be crossed under oath.

I agree with YR, you give the NFL an out, but it needs to a painful exit.

This would've never happened if they had just suspended him for misconduct, instead the NFL is always trying to retroactively punish players.

The bad thing about this, the nfl could come out right now and say they are dropping suspension and that they believe Zeke is innocent, and his chance of getting big endorsement money will always be negatively effected. No matter what, that lady did what she was saying, and took millions from his pocket. That’s that kind of crap that can make a person paranoid when dealing with people.
Good point but I disagree. Look a M Irvin, M Vick and many other players who have been convicted of much worse than what this case has shown.
Also the accuser is not a child or a actress in Hollywood. She's evidently a skank and teams, fans, businesses and people in general have a tendency to move on and forget unless the charges are very significant or on video. If Zeke goes on to become the go to RB of the DC, the endorsements will follow.

It should start with the NFL apologizing to Zeke for recklessly labeling him a domestic abuser then Friel should be fired.
