Great reply, Fuzzy... Thanks. I might add that this isn't something new for the AMA. They have recognized alcoholism as a disease since the mid-50's and drug addition, in general, since the 60's. Interestingly enough, most, if not all, health insurance providers recognize substance abuse as a disease. If there was ever a group that had reason to disavow substance abuse as a disease, it is health insurance carriers and, yet, they don't.
