Do you feel that this offense is "rolling"?

Recently, I've seen this term used quite often to describe the Dallas offense. And I had to say to myself, "I'm not sure?" While you have to love the total points at the end of the day - 28, 30, 31, 40 - you also have to look at the quality of the defense's those scores have come against.

And when you do that, you see that those scores are coming against the 24th, 16th, 22nd, and 28th ranked defense respectively. Middle of the road or worse.

So I have to ask, is the offense "rolling" or are these scores more the result of facing lesser defenses?

I can't decide for sure one way or the other so I was looking to see what everyone else thought?

Well...two things. (1) are the rankings you mention before or after played Cowboys? If those rankings are as of today then Dallas had a part in why they are ranked where they are. (2) Maybe not by you, but if they hadn’t played as well against those same opponents then people would be complaining. So, I say the offense is playing better than 3-3 record would indicate.

Just a reminder we are playing a 1st place schedule this season.

Both. No teams are playing elite defenses week in and out, and at this early juncture the teams performance against them factors into their low rankings.

If not for the meltdown against Denver the boys are likely the highest scoring team in the league.

You're likely right. The flip side of that is that the Broncos are the one top defense they've faced this year and they were completely throttled in that game. Totally shut down.

That's what makes this a really difficult thing to sort out at this point.

I'm thinking that the only way I'll truly get my answers is time. And watching them play a few more games to really get a feel on the trends.

Yeah the broncos game really throws some cold water on things, but I believe it was just one of those games. And they’ve clearly improved since then. And I don’t mean just from the inflated numbers, they LOOK far improved. They are borderline unstoppable in the red zone.

I hope so. I do think the offensive line has started to gel since Cooper replaced Green. And Elliott looks to be back to his old self as well. I think I need to see it more consistently.

But I also have to say that, even during this offensive revival, the passing game still isn't impressing me. Not Dez, not Witten, not Beasley, and certainly not Williams, who's been no factor at all.

As good as the the running game has looked lately, the passing game hasn't looked right to me all year. If they can with the running game working and passing game doing just enough? Great. But I'd still like to see a more efficient passing game out there too, because it's just a matter of time until teams are selling out against a one-dimensional offense.

Not quite yet, we have to see it again this week and when Zeke is cleared then we definitely will see it start rolling.

We have worked to establish an OL and the running game is starting to run down hill, as the saying goes. We can run when we need to, and everything that is good in football life follows: easy to pass when the safeties play closer to the LOS, better pass protection since passing is not absolutely needed all the time, a rested D, a shorter game, the other team’s D gets tired, demoralized and quits. We can win some games against any team when we can establish the run. Vince Lombardi would be proud.

Yes-- we are rolling. Yes-- Dak is playing at a high level. Yes-- the kinks in the running game appear to be getting smoothed out.

not quite, it is getting there, we have to see it done again at least 2 more times,, then we can say it is rolling

The problem with the denver game, their coaches were well prepped and came for war. They looked at our team, punched us, stole our lunches and ate it on the sideline. From start to finish thats just the other team having a great night. It happens

This offense is hot. 30 points and 400 yards is difficult to do in this league. The change that happened IMO is when Cooper came in and finally gelled with them and Collins got more experience. Dak and Zeke are on fire as well.

What's funny is I still hate this offense. When we go 4-5 wide with empty set, we have every receiver running vertical, no one crossing, or going horizontal. It's maddening. Hence the pressure.

Could you even imagine what Reid, or this new McVay kid could do with this offense??! 600 yards per game? Scary!

If you are defining rolling as effective I would say mostly yes. If we are talking about has the offense peaked yet I would say no. This offense would become deadly if:

1. The OL issues get ironed out.
2. The play calling is adequate
3. We quit forcing the ball to Dez and throw it to a wide open Beasley.

no they are not rolling
because
Garrett sucks and is so stupid they give him crayons to eat during the games so he looks smarter
Linehan is terrible. just terrible and awful playcaller. total waste
Zeke is fat and lost a step already
Cooper is a scrub and should be taking orders at papa johns
better ingredients. better pizza. papa johns
Jerry is senile and hates winning
Will Mclay does not look at free agents unless they suck and he should be fired

this is the core issues with the offense
i read these things here for weeks now so trust the experts
it all sucks
