Reading lots of the posts around here you'd think they somehow won the division in September and won the Super Bowl in October.

Truly amazing.

Our fanbase is giving the Eagles more benefit of the doubt than THEIR OWN fans are.

I live in PA and LOTS of Eagles fans are bracing for the inevitable letdown. It's like after all these years it's how they're programmed.

A subset of our fans have an inferiority complex when it comes to the Eagles. We went through this with their Dream Team, and again when they hired Chip Kelley, and again last season when they started off 3-0. It's completely irrational and completely bizarre.

FTFY

BTW, I am highly trained in troll detection and can confidently say there are at least 3 active members on this board that are closeted Eagles fans.

This is the latest defense from the apologist camp. That people are just saying this in hindsight as if people weren't saying similar things around the draft.

Frankly, I recall Taco not exactly being a wildly popular pick.

Most didnt like the pick.

Believe me I was a firm believer in Garrett. Bought into all the “getting rid of bad contract/character players while still being competitive” bologna and trusted the process.

The game that did it for me was the eagles 2013 game in which we started Kyle Orton as Romo broke his back carrying scrubs. On top of all of Garrett’s nonsense from 2010 up until that point (time mismanagement, lack of creative schemes, consistently getting out coached and not having guys prepared after layoffs) I still gave him a pass. He then decided it was smart to throw his QB under the bus, indicating Romo checked out of a run play in the GB game we lost in 2013. This started a huge conflict of course with Romo being the problem bla bla bla and wanting to always pass.

Well guess what: Kyle Orton threw the ball 41 damn Times and it had been his first game as a starter since like 2010. At that point I realized Romo was truly carrying this fool and should be compensated heavily for the contracts he’s received.

Last year was the nail in the coffin though. 3 weeks to prepare for GB and your stupid *** still had your team come out flat and ill-prepared. If it weren’t for Dez literally taking that game over we get blown out at home after going 13-3.

The process is over. Honestly it’s been over. No excuse we could only muster 1 without Romo in 2015. None. And this pansy stood there probably making a mess in his pants as Greg Hardy slapped a clip board from one of his coaches RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM.

Spineless. Gutless. Fraud. That’s Jason Garrett

COPY! and pretty darn good post, friend.

And at every one of those times...i sat here and called the flaws out and correctly predicted their demise.

I am not worried now either but they are doing it in a much better eay than those previous instances. We are still the better team, imo. Zeke's suspension really tests that though.

Yes and neither was Dak, neither was Dlaw, and neither was Frederick.

The resident experts here disagreed and were resoundingly WRONG.

Nailed it. The Eagles number 1 WR a year ago is a 3 guy. They desperately needed an infusion of talent there. Hence the Alshon/torrie signings.

We both did what we did to bring in our franchise QB. The Eagles went all in for Wetz and we kind of lucked out with Dak. Then again we loved him throughout the draft process.

Buuut...we totally failed this off-season. No question.

I think the answer is in between both sides of each argument.
FYI Jeffrey and Smith have completely been terrible. Even with the great Wince throwing to them.

Yes, they sent the 3rd and Jordan Matthews for Darby.
Their 2nd was part of the Wentz deal.
lol.

So they traded a 3rd and their 2nd round pick from 2014 for Darby.. a guy with 2 career interceptions. Now he may be an upgrade over what they have but a 2nd and another high 2nd round pick (who is garbage admittedly) is a lot to give up. Darby has also been hurt all year.

Meanwhile...Dallas' 2nd round pick in 2014 is DLaw.

And our first that year was Zach Martin while the eagles took Marcus Smith.

Yes, the eagles are schooling the cowboys alright.

and no 2nd or 3rd round picks.

If we had that here you all would be *****ing about that.

Philly has hustled and shuffled draft picks and cap space around to fill in the cracks and grab named players. This is a short term concept that will leave them with less resources in the long term. Mortgaging the future. It may pay off for them this year or 2018, but ultimately, they're Chip Kelly'ing themselve all over again.

:hammer:

I try not to fall into the subculture of this board as the reality state of this fan base. I won't allow my mind to believe we are this ******* soft. I've actually have a tally of punk *** candy apple weak minded fans. If I see one of you in any sort of congratulatory posture as if you back the team when we beat KC..and the philthy "empire" crashes....I'm coming for your heads.

I really don't understand why this was moved to the "drama" zone...this is good football discussion.

LOL.

It's weak minded to note that the Eagles are now likely the favorite in the division and likely the conference and that there was a huge shift in power in the division largely because one franchise had a smart and aggressive offseason and the other had a pretty cruddy offseason following their plan of cheapness and low quality FA signings?

Anything is possible. If Miller breaks Wentz's leg this weekend, certainly, things could change. But if we are in a situation where we kind of need their best player to get hurt to maybe win the division, isn't that kind of telling about the type of team we have?

Some of you have your anger misplaced. You are angry at fans thinking they are really closet Eagles fans when in reality, those people are more angry at our FO and their failures than the fact they "like" the Eagles. You want to be angry? Be angry at your franchise that half assed it this past offseason and turned a 13-3, #1 seed into a team that's probably going to be fighting for their playoff lives in a WC battle.
