Deion Sanders fires back at Tony Romo's comment about his tackling **merged**

Romo's career was cut short. In my opinion his opportunity of reaching the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player are very slim to absolute zero but maybe...

Maybe Romo's early success as a television broadcaster is genuine.

Maybe his career in front of the camera off-the-field is actually a stepping stone.

Maybe he will expand and combine his knowledge of the game with his good looks, charm and witty demeanor into newer ventures.

Maybe he will seek out entrepreneurial media possibilities with his old franchise or even the National Football League.

Maybe he will not become another Ed Sabol but perhaps evolve into someone who contributors significantly to the league.

Maybe he will enjoy a long healthy life.

Maybe Sanders will also enjoy a long healthy life.

Maybe Romo will get voted into the Hall as a contributor 20 or 30 years down the line.

And maybe the alphabetical seating will place Romo and Sanders in close proximity of each other for enshrinement ceremonies that would follow.

Yeah. That was a BIT of a stretch but the look on BOTH their faces would be absolutely priceless--as would the looks (and comments) of the former's most ardent critics.
I used to say there's no way Romo gets into the Hall because of his contemporaries. But if he has a legendary broadcast career like Madden, it's possible.

We've heard him laugh about it and call it a business decision and everything else.

He just hates Romo and also it gets people talking about Deion.

Deion is a jackass.

The whole Dez mess he created really pissed me off and acting like this towards Romo over a pass over comment just really puts me off.
I could be wrong, but I think he had an Under Armor pin on his HOF jacket during the acceptance speech.
lol. 'Darth Deion'.
Naw, that’s Joker level stuff!

Yep I hate Faulk because of it too.
I like Faulk but he is THE biggest anti-Cowboy commentator I know... You can see when they are even doing pickem's, and the Boys are supposed to win the game, and he has to pick them, how much he hates it..

Very petty and very childish.
But in fairness, Romo shouldn't have mentioned Deion either.
So, in fairness, many of Sanders (sometimes non applicable) comments made about Romo's performance as quarterback should not have been made during the latter's career? Yes? No?

Marcus Peters has established himself well in the league. Drafted three two years ago. Has made multiple Pro Bowls. Received rookie of the year honors. Named all-pro. Very impressive. Some might say there is a slight comparison between the initial career paths between Peters and Deion Sanders.

So when a cornerback, like Peters, is in excellent position to make a tackle, like Sanders also, and 'incredibly' whiffs in the process, Romo or any other television broadcaster working the game cannot state the obvious similarity? Why? I have harsher and less accurate observations made watching football over forty years and little was said of the matter.

He is not even qualified to have that position at CBS so the fact that he felt the need to mess with primetime was extremely weird.
so in your opinion, what exactly makes one qualified to be an NFL Broadcaster? Winning a Superbowl, Conference Championship???

Yes, they were fair because Romo was still playing. The Cowboys have always been the talk of these shows. So, yes.

Marcus Peters ain't no Deion. Furthermore, Romo's comments about Peters can stand on their own without a reference to Deion. Don't be naive. Romo's comment was a clear shot across the bow at Deion.

Obvious to whom? Many of the people watching on television haven't seen Deion play. And if they have seen his highlights, they see only his best plays.

Look, I like Romo as a commentator, but he took a shot at Deion that was unnecessary. Even Stevie Wonder can see this.

Romo is not qualified to poke fun at a champion and hall of famer. Especially since he was the interception man for many years. He is getting a little too cocky for a person who never accomplished anything

I hope you realize that by your own rationale you are not qualified to poke fun at or criticize ANY pro football player.

Or maybe you can list out all of your great football accomplishments for us?

just another Romo hater. They do not need logic or facts just emotion. Their lives are so poor that they have to hate someone to feel better about themselves.

Prime is an obnoxious drama queen, and has been for a very long time. He was such a cowardly tackler that he makes punter Chris Jones look like Darren Woodson!

The entire world knows Dion avoided tackling. He's got a gold jacket so he should just laugh about it. Dion and Marshal always ripped Tony for this or that. Tony took like a pro. Dion is a big baby.

Deion pulled a Shaq: "I have a ring and you don't therefore everything I say is right and everything you say that I disagree with is wrong and you have no right to criticize me because I have a ring and you don't. Did I mention I have a ring and you don't?"

This is, of course, a bankrupt line of thinking. Deion has rings and he has a jacket, but he was not exactly Ronnie Lott out there when it came to tackling in the secondary.

Deion is a petty POS. Everyone calls him out for his tackling, including himself. He has for years thrown out the line "They didn't pay me to tackle" so it is funny how he gets butt hurt when someone else says it.

haha....good find, that was in Atlanta with a fake NFL team. Who the heck watched the falcons anyway? He did very well in Dallas.

Yea I always loved that game so I made the video last year.

Deion having a tantrum is always a special moment to me.

Some of the comments were inaccurate but fair since 'Romo was still playing'. Okay.
Marcus Peters ain't no Deion. Furthermore, Romo's comments about Peters can stand on their own without a reference to Deion. Don't be naive. Romo's comment was a clear shot across the bow at Deion.
Agreed. It was a shot at Sanders. No sure why you assume naivety.

Announcers have made similar shots at current and ex-players for decades, and sometimes the observations were off-base. Romo's comment is an accurate observation.
Obvious to whom? Many of the people watching on television haven't seen Deion play. And if they have seen his highlights, they see only his best plays.
Obvious to viewers who watched Sanders play actual games--and not simply highlights. Television audiences are made up of varying ages.
Look, I like Romo as a commentator, but he took a shot at Deion that was unnecessary. Even Stevie Wonder can see this.
Unnecessary shot? Is any shot 'necessary'? Not really but shots are a part of the media broadcasting. A better question (still) is whether the observation was relevant. A very good cornerback whiffed on a tackle not that dissimilar from Sanders occasionally questionable tackling, who, of course, ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of the best cornerbacks in league history,

David Carradine's character in Kill Bill Volume 2 summed up Sanders response aptly: "I overreacted."
