The offense also was anemic at various times throughout this season, especially in key moments.

Just looking at points scored is a fairly simplistic and silly way to view this season. The offense hasn't been as bad as the D but they haven't been lollipops and ice cream all the time either.

Completely understood.

What has been consistent over many seasons is how bad the Cowboys defense continues to be. It would be nice to have a defense to lean on once in a while.

I do agree that the offense hasn't been sunshine and rainbows every game, but asking them to be absolutely perfect is pretty ridiculous. You'd have to agree with that.

Maybe but let's look at the Eagles game. You got stellar play from the D in that first half and the Cowboys has opportunities to build a decent lead.

But the offense crapped the bed. They didn't need to be perfect Sunday. They just needed to be effective. They were atrocious, especially in the first half when they had a chance to actually put some real pressure on Philly.

I can find two you might have an argument - Billick and Kubiak.

That's it.

Kubiak
Gruden
Billick
Vermeil
Switzer

I feel like going back further doesn't mean anything since the game has changed so much. All the above coaches had a worse winning % than Garrett except Switzer who, let's be honest, won with Jimmy's players.

49er fans would tell you Seifert as well but I tend to give him more credit than they do.

You're free to question anything you'd like. I prefer to look at the big picture and what's in this team's best interests long term. Not trying to finagle some undeserved playoff appearance that keeps undeserving coaches around for another year.

What it "is" is unacceptable. Some of us just don't shrug our shoulders about it.

There's nothing you can do to change it, so you might as well hope your team succeeds.

I think that's a very narrow way to look at it. There is a bigger picture. But I can fully admit that in order to make the playoffs, the Cowboys would probably have to go 5-1. If they did that and beat the Eagles in the last game then they would have a shot to win it all. I would take that all day long. I just dont think that is even remotely realistic. Especially not with the injuries we still have and Zeke out.

Because it isn't. And deep down, even the homerest of homers knows it.

This is 2015 all over again, only this time the coaches didn't lose Romo.

With the same "maybe", "possibly", and "if only" and "believe" posts in circulation. Worked great in 2015 too.

LOL at thinking Garrett is better than Gruden, Vermeil and Switzer.

Vermeil took TWO different teams to SBs. Gruden took two different teams to Conference Title games. Garrett has never sniffed a conference title game. Stop.

Switzer showed he was a hall of fame coach in college. Switzer is one of the more underrated coaches because he talked and acted like a bumbling fool and people just assumed he was a boob as a coach. But the guy was a legit stud coach.

On your list, you have Billick. That's it.

We were 3-7 through 10 games in 2015 and about he a face a team that would finish 15-1.

This team is 5-5 and play the 4-win Chargers.

The scenarios are radically different

Switzer was way ahead of the curve in recruiting black players and actually created something called the Wishbone offense. They dominated for a good 5 years because Switzer was ahead of his time. Then he goes to the pros and wins another title. It took Clappy 5 years to figure out what play action passing was. LOL

Feel the same way, outside of the 1st drive the defense had an excellent 1st half. Totally different game if the offense can close out a drive or two that resulted in a field goal. You also felt the game shifting big time when the Eagles just scored to go up 23 to 9. I believe on the next possssion the Cowboys had a 4th and 2 somewhere between their own 40 and 50. Though every fan always wants to go for it, that really felt like the Cowboys last chance to stay in the game.

Jerry Jones hasn't been good at hiring coaches for 30 years. Good luck.

LOL.

This might be the lamest defense we see of Garrett. It's made quite often. Jerry stinks at hiring coaches so we might as well keep Garrett because while he's not that good, he's also not the worst coach ever.

I'd rather take a chance that Jerry gets lucky than continue down this useless path with Garrett.

Let's see if the end results are, shall we?

With all this confidence, you should go out and place a bet on the Cowboys.

Defeatist attitude right there. You have basically lost all hope in Garrett being fired so you just want some kind of success to make yourself feel better. Dont give up buddy.

Sad, isn't it?

Stick with poor for fear of the unknown.

This is what they're now reduced to.

Its really sad to see Cowboys fans that far down the toilet. After Wade and Garrett Jerry has to be done with this road.
