We're playing for the 6 seed

Let's see if the end results are, shall we?

With all this confidence, you should go out and place a bet on the Cowboys.

It isn't about confidence, it's about enjoying watching your team play. I choose not to be a miserable SOB especially when we're three wins against poor teams away from 8-5 and a full bandwagon again.

If we don't do it then so be it, but I suspect you'll be watching Thursday just like all of the naive "happy fans" you thumb your proud nose at.

Defeatist attitude right there. You have basically lost all hope in Garrett being fired so you just want some kind of success to make yourself feel better. Dont give up buddy.

I want the Cowboys to succeed because I'm a Cowboys fan. I'll want the same next year whether Garrett is the coach or not.

It's not complicated

Thats great and so do I. The difference I think is that making the playoffs is success to you. For me its winning championships. I could really care less of whether make the playoffs or not. In fact, if it doesnt lead to a championship then its worthless.

Making the playoffs is the goal because once you get her there anything can happen. The Patriots made the playoffs 9 straight times without winning it all from 2005-2013. The Giants won two SBs in 5 years as a 9-7 team.

Make the playoffs and see what happens.

Who honestly thinks this team can win 6 in a row or 5 out of 6? They have nobody outside of Zeke on offense that scares anybody and he's not playing. They can't score any points

I'll watch because that's what I do.

But I also won't be a blind fool thinking everything is peachy and we really are in good hands with Jason Garrett.

It’s only fair that those that have jumped off the bandwagon and nearly guarantee that we miss the playoffs not post, at all, during the playoffs. If we make them:)

Stand by your convictions.

yah I dont believe in those type of general statements. More thoughtful analysis is required. Like how good is the team we are talking about. Im all about long term success. You seem too focused on the present. Sort of a lazy way to be a fan in my opinion.

Pretty sure not many are saying that we are——if anyone. It just seems Jerry will stick with this guy through about anything.

Maybe but let's look at the Eagles game. You got stellar play from the D in that first half and the Cowboys has opportunities to build a decent lead.

But the offense crapped the bed. They didn't need to be perfect Sunday. They just needed to be effective. They were atrocious, especially in the first half when they had a chance to actually put some real pressure on Philly.

Agreed. Offense was terrible this game and last game. As you did mention the first half performance of the defense I’d have to counter with the second half performance of that same defense.

Was it coaching? That’d be a good argument for sure. Was it more of a true representation of the defense itself? Most definitely.

Did you feel the same last season?

Pretty much the same team minus the secondary. The suspension and Lee and Smith out hurt a lot.

LOL.........no, definitely not last year. The team was balling last year. Now I didnt think they were going to win it all because of the pass rush, but they had a good enough chance with home field.

Did you really say that? Same team WITHOUT "the secondary", Lee, Smith, Zeke, ect....ect....?

That is a very different team. And we are 5-5 getting killed the last two games. And we are something like 0-4 when Lee doesnt play at all or the whole game. He is out another two games at least.

Actually, I wasn't sold on Garrett and this team even after last year. The playoff bomb out as the #1 seed just cemented my belief this staff is limited and this team is flawed.

They got by all season with a bizarrely efficient offense led by two rookies who completely covered for what was mediocre to bad defense. It was more smoke and mirrors than a complete and well rounded team led by legitimate upper echelon coaches.

Basically, 2016 was your typical lightning in a bottle season as was 2014. 2015 was the same just in the opposite direction - everything that could go wrong went wrong.

What we see this year is what I think is the norm for this franchise. Garrett isn't bad enough to totally suck but not good enough to win anything of value, especially with a roster that has its flaws because of bizarre decision making at times by the FO.

What makes me nervous is Minny. I'm worried they will stumble because Keenum just can't keep this up and they lose games to Detroit or Atlanta.

Honestly it's 50/50 if we get in at 10-6. We really need to win out, which is possible because we only play one team with a winning record who will be playing to win (Seattle) and that's when we have our MVP back.

The hope is that we can be healthy and find a way in, because with Lee, Smith and Zeke we're likely 7-3 right now and we can beat anyone with them healthy.
Yeah, Minny could not even stumble and lose to a surging Atlanta and solid division foe in Detroit. But 8-2 gives them room.

All three NFC South teams could even make it.
New Orleans (8-2) is a well-rounded, legit SB contender.
Atlanta (6-4 with tie-break) seems to finally be gelling.
Carolina (7-3) gets Olsen and Khalil back--which is huge for a team already getting healthier and starting to play well.

You're right, it's going to be really tough.

But we don't want to compete with Carolina because it's unlikely they finish worse than 11-5. We need them to finish with the 5th seed.

Why do we need them to finish with the 5th seed? I understanding wanting less teams to compete against for one slot, but adding another team to the mix is a bonus if it also opens up another spot that is being fought for.

Four teams fighting over 2 spots is a better spot to be in, than 3 fighting for 1. Especially, considering that it could be advantageous for Dallas as it might eliminate the head-to-head tie breaker with Atlanta.

This!!

Maybe it’s because I’m a 70s kid that watched during a string of a record 20 straight winning years but besides the late 80s I went 2 decades with SB wins and the attitude from all fans was “SB or bust” Playoffs were a given. Losing in them was failure. Now we are just happy to get above .500. Instead of expecting excellence we expect mediocrity and hope for the best. That’s a horrible way to think and Garrett has people believing this is normal.

Garrett definitely does not make up for any short comings. He may make them worse.

a heck of a lot better to be playing for the 6th seed than a draft pick.
there is much football to be played and a very winnable next 4 games.
get on a streak and peak at right time.

this team with it's guys back is good.
without lee, smith, zeke, bailey it just isn't very good.

but this team will get better as it was built for the long haul.

week 16 will likely be handed to us as philly will rest guys.
they arent going to rick key starters if they have the 1 seed all locked up.

I still feel secondary isn’t much worse. We may miss Church. The others are about even imo.
