We have been taking L's on and off the field all season. Goodell and the NFL have publicly smacked around The Cowboys and Jerry Jones several times this year. It's time for JJ to tuck his tail between his legs and stand in the corner with his mouth shut until this whole thing (The 2017 season) blows over. it's to the point now that it's embarrassing every time he opens his mouth.

I can’t stand goodell and I think the nfl is in the wrong, but I knew jerry wasn’t going to win against them.

So he threatened a lawsuit he couldn't win and got publicly smacked down by the rest of the league and that makes him a smart business man? Goodell, who Jerry said he was coming after with "everything he has," will be extended; where is the win for Jerry?

Threatening a lawsuit is only one part of the battle, at the end of the day its about getting enough owners behind him. Dropping this lawsuit may or may not be significant, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes. He may have been dropping it because it had no chance or because he has enough of the other owners behind him that it isn't needed, we don't really know.

This isn't Jerry vs Goodell.

This is Jerry vs Goodell and his colluding owners.

This is the key quote below, if true it sounds like Jerry got what he wanted and part of the agreement with the other owners included dropping the lawsuit -

Jones' initial concern was that only those owners on the compensation committee had a say in Goodell's contract; he wanted every owner to have "a voice in approving the terms." And now that, in Jones' view, the committee "is receiving valuable feedback from a number of owners," he is "standing down from my threat of litigation against the committee."

Goodell will be extended, whether he gets 20 or 15 or whatever million a year, whether he gets his own jet or a time share. Anything other than a humiliating firing will be treated as a loss by most Cowboys fans.

I'm sure he'll spin it that way just like he spins us having a great coaching staff. He'll nevet admit he got punked.

Goodell will definitely have his ask trimmed back, no doubt. He wasn't on a leash before but he is now. This is a long term battle and Goodell has lost a lot of ground.

Many here won't like this.

Instead they will say he is taking a step back only to come up with a masterful plan to pwn Goodell and the rest of the owners.

In reality, he was publicly neutered.
It will be the same people that said "oh, it's on now" "don't mess with Jerry" "Jerry is going to bring down Goodell and the NFL" yadda yadda yadda.

No...it's Jerry vs Goodell and it all started because of Zeke. Jerry was already crawfishing when he was told to shut up.
Let's presume it is. Goodell is then a liar and so he got what he deserved. His treatment of the Zeke situation has been piss poor and a charade for PC purposes against all credible evidence.

In a way I'm happy about this because now Goodell has no reason to remove the draft from Dallas next year.

The first 15 minutes of that baby will be must-see TV. Must-see.

Not sure I buy yet that this is a deescalation or total retreat. Maybe. But this could as easily be a tactical maneuver. A good tactician will apply pressure to make a point then relieve pressure as circumstances warrant. The idea is to achieve a goal.

Jerry Jones made a point. The owners not on the Competition Committee have seen how far the committee members will go to squash dissent. They can probably guess that negative information about Jones was leaked by the league and/or the committee. They have seen the threats of franchise renewal. It's entirely possible Jones' aim was to demonstrate the lengths to which Goodell and his allies will go to bring individual owners in line. Even those owners who dislike Jones must wonder on some level whether they could receive similar treatment given a new set of circumstances.
You make too much sense . Everyone here wants to believe Jerry is a fool.
