The average fan isn't intelligent enough to pick up on it.
The average fan isn't intelligent enough to pick up on it.
Actually the opposite. It makes my point word for word. The NBA is way up.....18-25%........ so that kind of blows up your theory

I saw this first hand in the NBA with Miami vs Dallas. The average fan isn't intelligent enough to pick up on it. I don't believe the game is rigged, but I do believe the league tries to steer outcomes. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Head meet sand......keep buryingActually the opposite. It makes my point word for word.
NBA teams are the most liberal group you could find. Coaches, players, the entire deal.
But their ratings were abysmal and now are less abysmal. Poltics and activism hasn't hurt them one bit.
NFL ratings were ginormous and are now less ginormous but still keeping pace with it's lead over any other content.
From the article itself...
Given all the cord-cutting in the intervening years, not to mention the indifference of millennials to traditional TV, the NBA is clearly doing more than a few things right.
As to people walking away.. nonsense. This is a board of very right leaning folks and they haven't stopped watching games or stopped posting.
As much as I hate Goodell and the stupid catch rule, neither have I.
Because it's still the best American sport by a mile. And the ratings STILL reflect that.
But forget the NYPost nonsense... let's go to Money.com

Critics, including the President himself, have been quick to point out that the NFL's ratings are down. But what they won't tell you is that the NFL is down significantly less than the rest of broadcast television.
Through week seven, the NFL is down 5% overall from the same point last year. That's a troubling drop for the biggest ratings powerhouse on TV, but it seems less dire when you consider that the four major networks are down an average 8% in prime time.
NBC is down 4%, CBS is down 6%, ABC is down 11%, and Fox's prime time viewership dropped 20% through the first month of the new TV season, according to Nielsen data. And those numbers are down despite the inclusion of live sporting events, which usually bring in big audiences.

it does not take much to make a big difference. The real problem is the ego of all too many refs. They want to feel importantYeah I don’t think it’s scripted, but it’s obvious that refs can influence the game is certain directions, even if it’s just a nudge here and there.
You obviously didn't read the article.Head meet sand......keep burying
I don't see how comparing NBA ratings to NFL backs any point. The NBA fan base is a mere subset of the total NFL base and gleaning anything from that statistic is cherry picking to say the least.Actually the opposite. It makes my point word for word.
