How many games do Lawrence and Smith play next year? Give me a number so I can put it in my sig. How many sacks does lawrence have? I'll add that as well.

You've got to build and you don't think that on poor foundation.

Look up Argumentum ad populum
DLaw plays at least 14 games and has 12+ sacks............that is worth 5/65m

He makes our team a lot better

There is no doubt at all that he makes the team better, that isn't the question.

The question is how much are you willing to put in the Lawrence pot and risk going bust? How many snaps?

Again when you do this you're rolling the dice and you're almost certainly going to bust. The odds are overwhelmingly against you. Anyways, I'll quote you.

In reality you don't want to say anything, because either you'll undershoot and look ridiculous or overclaim and look ridiculous when they miss time.

Yeah, that's "reality" to you.
:lmao:

But of course it is, especially when you think trading away the team's only left tackle option for peanuts and an $18 million dead cap hit is a "plan".

You have two players with red flags, one who is an establish great player, but likely won't be for much longer and another who has never been consistent. You want to anchor a lot of young talent around these guys and hope for the best... That's a poor strategy in my book. You're more than welcome to it, but you shouldn't suggest that isn't exactly what you're doing.

"Your book" looks to be written in crayon, and full of inaccuracies, all of which have been pointed out to you. But you lack the maturity to admit any of them.

LOL, I wonder what you googled to find that... :/

I typed in "Galian" and "Beast" and that's what Google came back with.

Lets be real here. He had one sack in the last 5 games? Im sure you are very impressed indeed.

Whether I’m impressed or not is irrelevant. My comment was about Lawrence and opportunities for other lineman. The point is you read into what I said over word semantics when you don’t even have an informed opinion in general and ultimately voiced the same point I made.

But PS please note he will want more than 13 per year.
You can't have it both ways............ if he has all these flags then he won't get 17-18m

If he wants to stay in DAL then he takes 5/65m
If he wants top dollar he gets tagged for 17m this year and they let him walk in 2019 for a 3rd round comp

Have it both ways? That he has red flags doesn't mean someone won't want to pay him a lot of money, rather it just shouldn't be us.

Where is your logic?

As for tagging him, again, do you think we win the super bowl next year? If your plan is to let him walk, what is the point of tagging him for a year?

For what it's worth here is a post from 2014 where I said not to pay Dez 14+ million a year.

I'll look forward to looking back at this post too.

Free Agency is what it costs to keep a player......not his worth base on production
It is a fixed game and most players are under rookie deals or get tagged

True FA is overpaying by nature............what would you pay for ABrown?...... it doesn't matter what you'd pay......he isn't available

Dez was available at 14m and we had no better options...... but no one complained when Dez earned 20m a year on his rookie deal for 3 straight years..... it is the cost of doing business and DLaw has earned a 2nd contract

Using the Patriots as an example is stupid. They have the greatest coach in NFL history. They have one of the best 5 QBs to ever play. So sure if we can replicate that, then the necessity of top talent goes down.

Please explain to me how we do that?

Also Brady himself has grumbled about the Pats walking away from some Vets who he believed could have helped the team win even more.

So anyway....

He can grumble all he wants.

The Patriots aren't the only team that has done this. Many teams around the league focus primarily on defense with good results. Not as good as the Patriots mind you, but good none the less.

The Seahawks were extremely successful when they focused on defense. When they shifted course to offense they began to struggle.

Dez shouldn't have been re-signed at 14 million especially not if you were going to bench Romo for a rookie. That should have played a factor in the decision to start Dak.

You don't earn a contract with one year of play.

Seriously? You're stooping to this now?

Good lord...

Facts? Heaven forbid.

You're looking at a very similar situation. If anything I would say Dez had fewer red flags than Lawrence. He had shown his ability much more consistently and was never suspended or had serious injury issues at the time.

So how does letting your best defensive player leave align with "focusing on defense"?

You continue to stumble, bumble, and fumble with this thread.

Certainly not among your better ideas.

I don't want to tag him..... I want 4-5 of control for the same price as 2 tags

I think we can win the SB next year with DLaw so I won't let him go for a 3rd round comp
Next year at 20m I do let him go

Yes it does. You focus on having a balanced defense across the board. The money you save on not re-signing a guy with huge flags is instead re-allocated across the defense giving you more dollars per play with less risk of injury, suspension, or reduced performance.

Not difficult.

Do you really think that you - someone who created this misguided, misinformed, mess of a thread - should be bringing up the word "facts" right now? If nothing else, it shows a total lack of self awareness.

No idea what would make you think this team is poised to win a super bowl next year.
